Weapon pickup and supplies suggestions

Hello there, a lot of us might agree: don’t make it impossible to pick up guns!

I hope that this feature has been temporarily disabled in order to fix the fact that sometimes it wasn’t possible to pick up guns even tho you could clearly see them on the back of the bodies.

Anyway, I’d might ask to add some features to the game.

1. PICKING UP GUNS AND AMMO

If I pick up any enemy gun, let’s say an M1 Beretta, and I eventually find an enemy ammo box, let me replenish its ammo at least for a couple of full magazines if you want to keep it nerfed.
I could go and scavenge anyway for the same result as well, since picking up the same kind of weapon multiple times from different corpses it ends up by stacking up the ammo I got from it, even more than just a couple of magazines, and btw it is a fairly logical and natural thing to do, and it would be realistic to find an enemy gun and get ammo for it right from an enemy ammo box tho, and enemy boxes ain’t so common to find, plus it would make it even impelling for the players to prevent the enemy from capturing the ammunitions.
Soldiers did it often during the real war, and still do it now.
This won’t break the game, won’t turn you into a terminator tho, but it can add some more spicy to the soup.

2. REMOVABLE MGs FROM ITS NESTS and FACTION VARIETY

Another stuff that I’d enjoy (really) is that we could pick up a dismantled MG from its nest, let’s say, an MG that we kick off, maybe with limited ammo in it so that it doesn’t break the game.
Maybe give the two factions MG nest variety that shall be historically based, for example a M2 Browning for the Americans when they build their own MG nest, instead of having them handling MG42 nests by default.

3. MG NEST ROTATON MECHANICS

What about being able to turn the MG nest’s machine gun in the opposite direction?
It would not only be fun, but also realistic to have the advancing enemy turning the MG left behind against you while you’re retreating.

I hope you like these ideas, please leave useful comments and remarks

Assumptions I made:
Imo models of MG nests should and will be changed as now they are incredibly dump (let alone that they are all MG42). My guess is that Germans will get MG34 or MG42 (depends on the campaign) on the lafette mount, US will get M1919 on the tripod and SU will get water cooled Maxim on the proper mount. Maybe also sandbags in front of them as it would make sense.

On this basis:

It would make sense for the Germany but not really for Americans and certainly not for russians.

If movable AT guns will be implemented, the same mechanic could be used to move MG nests. So sure, why not, just don’t allow the enemy to resuply ammo.

Yup, that sounds legit.

Well, it depends mainly on the will of the player, since an MG42 or 34 is a pretty juicy gun to play with, even with limited ammo, especially if you have run out of your own ammo.

Yeah, I agree with the thing about sandbags to be put in front of them. Maybe even a mounted Breda 37 and a Fiat-Revelli for the Italians too

I meant that dismounting MG34 from the nest makes sense as it’s perfectly suitable to be used as LMG. But for example M1919 or Maxim are accordingly bad and terrible while being used like LMG.
So I would say that outside of the german MG nest, it doesn’t make sense to dismount MG as they would be almost impossible to use (especially maxim) without the mount.

Saying that I would love to see MG34 and MG42 represented in their true role of GPMGs. But I doubt it will ever happen. I’ve made a few posts about it if you have too much time for reading.

I haven’t thought about it. It’s a great idea.

Personally, I have mixed feelings about this. (use of enemy weapons). H&G at some point, just ruined the whole balance when full modded enemy weapons were (and still are) taken off without any restrictions. They “tried” to fix everything with the “captured guns” option, which also didn’t work. This has produced a very strange behavior of the players that encourages them to pick up better enemy weapons because your faction’s weapons are just not good. So in this case, the question would be for the game developers how to make not worth picking up enemy weapons, instead, be completely happy with your own.

I would vote for just few options here:

1.- Possibility to pick up only the weapons of the soldiers of your own faction.
1.- Ability to pick up an enemy weapon, but with only one clip in it.
2.- Or, in the same way, but have only one refill from the enemy ammo boxes, but not the original full quantity, but only a couple of clips.

Yes.

Nice song, although I am disgusted that the author completely ignored the assistant gunner, who was in every background photo by the way.

This would be a good one, maybe a couple of clips from an enemy box, but only once or twice.

Eheh, he would need to have “Maxim” for a name as well. The 3 Maxims would sound a tad weird

At 24 second PPSH with bipods?

It’s Soviet Union. I don’t belive they wouldn’t manage to set up a Maxim crew consisting of 2 guys named Maxim.

But bayonets for ppsh are kinda historical

This will make the ppsh incredibly deadly at close range))
But we already have a premium ppd 40 in Berlin.
Although this does not any prevent them from making ppsh with a bayonet.

“What is your name, conscript?”
“Pavel, Commrade Starshina”
“To the front you go, Pavel, with second hand Mosin.”
“Blyat”

“What’s your name, conscript?”
“Maxim!”
“Oh? With all the other conscripts named Maxim you go, as mg servant.”
“Ura!”

They could also put debuff on using enemy weapons, i don’t expect that a US soldier know how to use perfectly an MG42 fg42 stg 44 ecc ecc.

Make that 7!!! (For luck). Driver Maxim of the Maxim truck with passenger Maxim, gunner Maxim giving Maximum pain to his enemies by shooting the 4 Maxims dealing Max damage with Maximum efficiency.

Wait but didn’t they remove the ability to pick up weapons?

bruh thats OP Maximationationinging right there. might explode the universe if they all shook hands while patting the guns. for that matter it might do the same regardless
