When i first started playing i too would climb up on the tank to place but then learned putting on the side is way easier and faster. You can blow most tanks with a single charge placed on the side, but the heavier ones like king tiger won’t blow with just 1 on the side. You can infact blow kv1s and jumbos with 2 tnt packs placed on the side and detting both at once with the guerilla class. I haven’t had a chance to test this out with king tigers yet.
As a side note, APCs can be really weird with damage and blowing up. I find the easiest way to deal with them is to just toss an explosive pack (grenade slot) by one of the front doors/front wheels. A tnt pack will also work if placed on the side by the front/engine bay.
You could always go into practice mode and test on the tanks in field
I believe it’s faster to drop 2 on the side than it is to climb up, place, run away. Especially useful in situations where it’s hostile. Usually have a better chance of surviving with the tank cover over climbing up and being exposed.
2 seem to do the job on the KV-1 i blow up 2 of them that way on one of the Stalingrad city map.
Guess if i will move from BR II to BR IV I will place even 3 pack on the IS-2s just to be safe.
I dont really get the design behind it cause the T-34 allways blow up on 1 & the German Pz III and IVs too … but if it takes 2 … than it gets 2, hell i would even place 5 if it ruins the day of a grayzone abuser.
