Just imagine this picture: every 30s A flare go in the sky and last 20s.
Or you can fire your own flare.
When the flare goes off, for a brief moment the battlefield become calm. All the guns stop shooting. People are looking for every movment that betray the ennemy position, hiden under sthe moon light. Some men try to cross the battlefield, laying on the ground. Be slow, any fast movment can make you killed. Sometime it’s just better to play dead and weight for the light to come up again. If you get spotted and get shot.
Suddently you hear the sound of a flare gun shot in the sky.
QUICK! JUMP IN A HOLE! YOU ARE ON OPEN FIELD!
Last time I saw flare it was in Operation Flashpoint: dragon rising (2009) and only one time or the solo campaign of COD World at War (2008) (And it was epic. I don’t remember the game, just the flare and the japanese ambush).
I seriously doubt they want to be unique, maybe they wanted at the beggining. I think now they want to be safe and make money.
Only unique thing is AI squads but they are next to useless imo.
I afraid for this idea… For Japanese like me, dark scene of western games/films are too dark and nothing can be see. In shooting game like Enlisted, such environments are very stressful.
But also this idea seems interesting too… If such night battle is implemented, I hope any AI artillery shoot star shell frequently.
