cause 4chan owner hosts them on his own servers, while parler and DF rent those servers from third party.

there is reason why people go for cloud hosting companies instead of making their own infrastructure. simply it is expensive. they would need real estate in at least 3 worldwide locations (cause 3 regions), with at least another 3 for backup and then they would need people that are physically present on those locations to maintain those servers. then they would need enough servers to handle peak number of users per region with extra buffer times 2 cause you need those servers for backup location.
i remember reading somewhere that web host can serve around 250 concurrent users per CPU core. game server will need anywhere from 1-4 cores for 1-20 users for average of 20 minutes.
in 20 minutes that web host could serve thousands of people, while game server would still have between 1-20 people served for occupying 1-4 times more resources.
