Vehicle Spawn Rework Suggestion

There’s been a lot of complaints from the community about planes spawning and suiciding as well as people occupying vehicle slots without making any contributions to the team.

There are two solutions for this problem that I think need to be implemented.

  1. Despawn points: These points allow you to despawn your plane for the same bonus as “landing” your plane as long as you only have light damage. This despawn point will also allow you to take your plane out again without having to cycle your squads before it opens up again. This will encourage players who spawn planes to deal with enemy planes or singular threats to do so without suiciding.
  2. Spawn Points for Planes: It’s simple, planes should have an increasing cost to take out. That way people don’t spam them and especially deals with the suicide issue. These spawn points are just your score and they continue to accumulate the entire game so most players should be able to get at least one plane spawn and then several more just by playing the match.

Edit 1: The second solution was edited to remove suggesting tanks use this system due to inherent flaws in limiting tank play.

I like the first idea, that’s actually a workable solution for pilots in fighter planes without bombs. The go up to shoot down the enemy bomber and they can then “return to airfield” without burning team points/ respawn timer.

To the second - No !

Vehicles die too easily to Inf AT spam. I am pretty sure there is already a timer between vehicle spawns so there is not much else you can do without potential overreach in terms of limiting players.

I’ve had games where the server connection was unstable or sometimes it becomes so during the game and the planes go out of control and crash. I’m sure its happened to many players out there and under the current conditions the game probably could not distinguish the difference in order to apply any penalties per se.

I think your issue with the second part is resolvable in the game just improving its performance so I think that’s more an issue with the state of the game than the suggestion. As for Inf AT Spam I know and that’s part of why I didn’t propose any specific score requirements but I know under previous suggestions I considered 500 being the most a heavy tank should cost for a fresh spawn moving up to 750 and 1120 respectively. I also wouldn’t limit the score requirements to infantry kills so it wouldn’t be terribly punishing to players who know how to use them.

Ultimately I’m more in favor of the points system for planes anyway because if you know you need to get a lot of points to spawn a second plane you’re going to think twice about intentionally crashing. This would encourage players to learn how to use their vehicles without wasting slots or becoming nuisances.

Edit: Also if you need more score to get a plane you’re going to inherently work to contribute to your team on the ground so you can afford it so it’s a win in the air category and the infantry category.

Well, one of the options for spawn-ins in the first place is to adopt a WT style of progressive points build up. So that could work for what you’re describing and essentially allow for some moderation of the really heavy stuff in BR V, but equally try to limit the number of overpowering vehicles at least initially.

The problem though with this approach is that it hurts the playerbase who is trying to research said vehicles. The amount of play time they would potentially get in said vehicles after they finally grind enough points to bring them in will make any research a much bigger grind. For those who have everything unlocked already its much of a muchness.
Perhaps if they just went to a universal points system that will allow you to earn points on any squads in game and apply them to wherever you want. Then yeah this could work, and limit certain types of vehicles that were rare in theatre based on points acquisition.

It would also push the SMG/LMG/AR spam to the max since most players will want to build points quickly to get access to their fav vehicle - newer players would have to try to pick the time when the older players are on a respawn timer just to get a run with their vehicle in game.

Yeah, it’s not perfect by any means but I think the trade-offs are worth it. I think I definitely agree with not doing this for tanks then but planes should still have this implemented. Pilots should be incentivized to use the resupply point when flying and not to do suicide run cycles. And most people grinding plane squads aren’t suiciding, it’s almost exclusively veteran players or new players trying out their first plane.

I’ll edit the original post to reflect this.

Having the ability repair aircraft would be nice, especially when coolant leak instead of waiting for it empty and forced to bail out.

I had posted a similar idea almost a year ago.
I agree with this suggestion.

As soon as I realized your post is only regarding planes and doesn’t address people who cycle tanks endlessly…

Tiger II (H), Tiger II (P), Tiger E. Maybe throw in a Dicker Max if you like.

If a slot is full, run some rifle grenades or flamethrowers until a slot opens. Suicide and grab the tank slot.

This is at least as toxic as anything people do with planes.

I originally did suggest that, however there are some inherent game limitations that make this option more difficult to address, so I’m looking into how that could be done.
