There are a lot of things to change and improve in the update! First, I’d like to start with the UI.
First, buying things. There’s too many guns and troops, now! Just for US rifles, there are FIVE rows worth of guns to comb through. Eight rows of troops! That’s just the US, too.
Instead of these large icons, perhaps a list based system is better. There could be folders that you click open for each weapon subtype. Here is a drawn up example for the ‘rifle’ category. It would still require scrolling but now you’re looking for what you want to look for.
For troops, I feel a better way to do it is to have a list of troop types (Rifleman, Assaulter, etc) which expands out to include each grade of trooper.
Because of the lack of actual trooper preview, instead it can be replaced with a nationality picker for those nations that have them.
Equipment is also a problem. There’s so many and their icons are so huge that it’s just a mess. I suggest a similar set up to the weapons section, but instead broken up into Throwables, Placeables, Melee, Inventory, and Wearables. So, you need medkits or tools, you click the Inventory section. Need grenades, the Throwables category, and so on.
Next is UI for equipping soldiers. A player can acquire so many different weapons and various upgrade states of weapons that it is an honest chore to find weapons to give soldiers. With the inclusion of bayonets the issue is even worse, since I’m sure many of us have a lot of knife-less rifles now.
Unfortunately, I’m not sure how to deal with this problem, but I have a few suggestions to put into text.
First, a BR filter for weapons. This is simple, just pick 1 2 3 4 or 5.
Second, a weapon type filter. This could be done either in a Rifleman, Assaulter, Sniper, Machine Gunner method, or a straight up Bolt Action, Semi-Auto, etc…
Next is vehicle choosing. Let’s be honest, it’s a mess. I think it should be done like equipping soldiers with pistols or equipment.
