Now I am trying to build a BR3 lineup for the first time and it looks like it’s getting weaker instead of stronger?
The best I can do is swap some of those paras/event squads with regular squads of soldiers wielding M1A1 Thompson, M1928A1 Thompson, 30 cal Thompson from events, BAR 1918, BAR 1918 A1, BAR 1918 A2, M1 Garand, Flamethrower, Bazooka and a M4A2 Sherman somewhat like this
But is this really better than the current BR2 lineup I have with double paras, versatile SAS boys and USMS Tommy gun?
BR2 paratroopers are a better to choice even for BR3 because of their versatility.
BR3 has Sherman with 75mm M3 cannon which is the game’s best infantry support gun.
M1A1 Thompson instead of Lancaster.
M1 Garand over M1 Carbine and grenade launchers become an option too.
BR3 is a massive boost over BR2 but paratrooper box is a game breaker, especially with Soviets who can equip potentially 6 of any gun.
The Thompson’s gonna shred no matter what, and that .30 Carbine one is one of the best in the game
The M1918A2 BAR is my favorite LMG too. I’d almost take it over an M1919A6 in BR V
You also don’t need full unison on BR. If you like a lower BR gun more, or think it’s better, then you can keep it in there and just not use the higher BR counterpart
Personally, I LOVE US BR III. It has all of my favorite weapons of the war and those guns easily run entire lobbies if used right
Indeed lol because those are 9mm luger parabellum rounds. Literally the pinnacle of small arms engineering, 100% German and the complete opposite of soviet equipment.
Problem with BR3 USA is that most of the BR3 guns are just trash, especially considering how often you’ll end up in uptiers
The Thompsons are just sad, the M1 Garands are (kind of) serviceable, but are basically the worst BR3 semi auto
I guess BR3 lets you spam those nerfed-to-ground flamethrowers? But the AT options are just ass, you still need to bring some PIATs anyway, since the M1 is so dinky
Personally I use the Lanchester 50’s even at BR5, as well as the Welgun paras
Most of the planes are bad, most of the tanks are not great, you will end up in turbo uptiers where you are completely useless half the time…
I just would avoid touching BR3 USA, either BR2 or BR5
The only thing holding the Thompson’s back are the irons. Even with that problem, I still shred Krauts and Japs alike with them. The BAR is my favorite LMG in the game, and I’d almost be willing to take it over the M1919A6. It just works and it works so darn well. The Garand suffers the same fate all Semi Auto’s in this game do. Either learn to use it or stick to Bolties. Personally, I’m learning to use it. Double tapping the trigger on every dude tends to do the job at closer ranges. I’ll argue till the day I die that the M9 Bazooka is the best AT weapon in the game. Sure the Panzerfaust may have more pen, but is it a HEAT rocket that can go the distance? The planes are debatable. At BR II you get access to the biggest bomb in the game, and at BR III you get a plane with M8’s which can wreck someone’s day if used skillfully. I’ve seen someone repeatedly delete Panther’s with them in a match before. Yes, the 75mm Sherman always had been and always will be lackluster in the AT department. However, it is top tier infantry support. Hard to beat the ol reliable 75mm HE. Just don’t let the enemy armor see you…
And being uptiered only makes you useless if you planned on staying inside a tank the entire game. You still have guns, and the enemy is still a bunch of fleshbags. Regardless of BR. Just gotta learn how to put bullets in people, and then you’re not a burden
All in all, BR III US is fantastic. My favorite guns in the war, and they all perform satisfactory or better. They’re perfectly built for being Default Aggressive and constantly rushing point
Personally I evaluate lineups on the criteria of “can it 1v19” and let’s be honest, BR3 US is severely lacking compared to what it has to fight and what other nations have at BR3
Are Garands usable? Of course they are! Hell, I use a squad with Armaguerra 39’s, the Garand is a (slight) improvement over that. Is it on par even with a G41 (especially now, that it’s goofy reload can actually be used)? Debatable. Does it even come close to an SVT-38? Who are we kidding? If you ever come across a sweat stack of FG42/StG spammers the M1 Garand will simply not cut it.
Are the billion thompson versions usable? NO They all have horrific sights, they all have terrible recoil, way too high RoF, the projectile velocity is abysmal (and so is the damage falloff), meaning they aren’t much better than a damn axe for all I care…
I guess now that M9 Bazooka went down from BR4 to BR3 it’s a bit less of a joke…but in uptiers it’s longer range is still basically irrelevant anyway?
As for the rest of the vehicles: Sure, you have the biggest bomb. Who cares? It’s connected to a plane so slow any minimally competent team shouldn’t even let you survive till the drop. The P-51D-5 is slightly better, but as a fighter it’s AGGRESSIVELY mid. And usually the FAB100 will do the job just as well anyway…
Meanwhile other nations have stuff like the IAR (not great fighter but still half-viable, when used as a bomber it drastically outperforms “pure bombers”) or the soviet P40 (like the IAR, but both even better as a fighter and a bomber), some real fighter options, better ground vehicle options (the PIV J is way more useful even in uptiers compared to most Shermans, so is the KV or a T-34
Rest of the stuff I don’t really use so I don’t really care to have an opinion on.
Basically their entire lineup is mid as fuck to me (To the point that I unironically use tons of BR2/BR3 stuff since it’s more tactically useful to me)
Why compare US BR III to Soviet BR III? They don’t fight each other and never will in this game
And the P-51 was made for escorting bombers. Its main attribute is range, which doesn’t translate well to video games. However, the best way to use it, as all American fighters, is Boom and Zoom. Something much more difficult to pull off in Enlisted than in War Thunder due to your limited visibility both from cockpit view and enemy indicator distance. If you can start laying into someone though, they’re going to be done for
As for Thompson’s, if you just simply fix their artificial nerfs then they’d be top tier SMG’s. A solid, fast reloading stick mag, great rof, and the highest base damage of the SMG’s thanks to .45 ACP
Still gonna argue M9’s the best we got so far because rocket
As for FG and StG spammers, that’s what the BAR is for. Wipe em before they even know you were there
It may not be “top of the line,” but US BR III is perfectly suitable for owning Krauts if you’re good enough
I run MG Squad, Assault Squad, and AT Squad. With a plane for the kicks and giggles/gray zone campers
Engies in both MG and AT Squad for rally points and their respective guns
Radio Ops in the…I believe MG Squad and Assault Squad
And AT Men in the MG Squad and Assault Squad
This is my go to loadout for everything. I can also switch out the AT Squad for an Engie or Radio Op Squad when I see fit
I compare them to soviet BR3 specifically because they both fight germany across all tiers
BR3 soviets can reasonably win BR5 matches
BR3 USA is rarely even a nuissance in BR3 matches lol
So, I’m not in the slightest surprised that people feel it’s actually a downgrade
As for the BAR, sure, it’s very good. It’s an MG though, it’s not like you can really push with it anyway
When I was BR2 US (I guess BR3 too) I used
Engineer squad (4 enginers 2 AT)
AT squad (2 engineers 3 AT 1 Sniper)
Assault Squad (2 engineers 4 assaulters 1 sniper)
Welgun Paras
20 different planes
SVT-38 Now holds 11 rounds effectively. (I don’t even know if garand can be loaded to 9 now lol, haven’t used it since before the change) Assuming some misses/having to double tap some targets, the SVT-38 can almost guarantee you are able to kill/at least knock down most squads (5-7 members) in one mag. It reloads faster. Has less recoil (at least in the in-game stats). The SVT sights IMO are way better too (you see way more through them, the post is thinner so it’s easier to pick off far off campers, it also feels more accurate (?))
well considering its role, it is perfectly good for its job. would extra bullets come in handy? yes, but they dont affect much of performance compared to its counterparts. recoil is irrelevant cause you will need to adjust aim for both guns, so slightly more offset will not play any major role (it would play much bigger role on automatic weapon). while slightly faster reload is better it isnt that important for most of the fights cause you can use cover.
sights on garand are ok (unlike most of the other US guns), so it comes down to personal preference on what you like more.
also it depends on playstyle you have with SA. i use them as mid-long range weapons with usable CQC ability when needed. if you use them more as cqc/short range weapon then SVT38/40/g43 would be better.
