Sadly the US early mechanical drone program in WW2 saw little use has the technology was too different and hard to use with high risk of damaging the drones.
They saw almost all there action in the pacific theater. The drone first prototype where designed with tv parts to show the operator the ground. The later modelers where designed closer in propose to a bomber with light machine-guns equipped.
Prototype TDR - was a basic ww2 plane with guns only a tv/camera to help the pilot on the ground see. The is could be used by players to find and mark enemies to kill has snipers like to find hard to see points.
TDR-1 - To save on cost and not to take away from filed test planes most of it’s parts where civilian brands. It could carry 2 armaments but cost cut this down to one 2,000-pound bomb or aerial torpedo depending on the mission.
XBQ-4 - This drone saw the most fighting but also highest losses. Has the pilots had about 50% hit rate because of a time lag between seeing the target and pressing the button then the drone dropping the bomb it caused misses because the island humidity fucked with parts breaking down or pilots not taking single speeds into account. With this many drone operators decided to preform Suicide runs at ships when taking damage or when out of bullets or armaments to fire at them.
A good way to keep pilots on there toes is to had a humanity warning in the form of static on screen has found many drones parts degraded from the island humanity in the Pacific Theater that drone have to land on ships to be fixed before flying are the pilot loses the ability to see.
