US tanks need HE filler in their AP rounds

Seriously, It’s so annoying when I’m in a duel with a Panzer 4 and need to play “whack a German” with 75mm AP rounds that are like needles, but if the German tank pens me I explode like wtf. Is it too much to ask for AP shells that don’t suck?

Go back in time and ask the US tank designers to stick more HE in their shells.

I wouldn’t need to since they did design 75mm AP shells with HE filler in them. The devs just didn’t use those as the standard AP round and instead decided to use what feels like an APCR round.

More then once, I’ve had a Stuart going flat out drive around behind me in the panzer 4 and destroy my motor, then it’s all over but the crying.

It’s missing the M61 APCBC shot.

Same with Puma’s and Sherman Jumbos but at the speed of 100kph.

HE doesnt do shit to infantry like wtf

The simple reason is that all tanks as far as I currently know are using their stock war thunder loadouts, which is why none of the German tanks have HEAT rounds, and none of the American tanks have their APCBC rounds. However their is one unexpected tank destroyer in the American line up, to demonstrate I’ll post the stats for the M5A1, M8 HMC and Sherman ammo stats in that order, again remember that each tank is using stock ammo so thats the one at the top of the table + HE.

Notice anything off with the M8? Not only does it have an explosive yield unlike the other US tanks it’s explosive yield (thanks to being HEAT) is so large you can more or less one shot anything it can penetrate, which is to say every German tank frontally as the thickest German armour in the game currently is on the Pz IV Ausf H at 80mm and the M8 has 89mm pen. So if you want an American tank that will delete German tanks with little to no effort use the M8, just don’t complain when you get one shot in turn since the M8 has paper thin armour and ammo racks all over the place.

And now for a little fun, the M8’s HEAT rounds have a explosive yield equal to 548g of TNT so lets see what thats equal to in terms of APCBC, specifically the Soviet ISU-122S a 122mm tank destroyer. Would you look at that the M8 still comes out on top in terms of explosive yield due to the power of HEAT, wish us German players could get some of that for our Pz III N’s.
