Currently the American assault class is not capable of carrying the M1 Carbine, at least not on the squads I have unlocked so far. I understand why the assault class can not carry the M1 Garand but they should be able to use the M1/M2 carbines since they are light weapons not designed for long range engagements like the Garand.
What do you guys think, should assaulters get access to the M1 and M2 Carbines?
No.
Why should they? You can give Carabine to every soldier in Squad already, idk why should assaulters have them too.
M1/M1A1 were in late war in big multitude of troops - there were entire battalions equipped with it and it was used for shook troops, recon, commando units and even in tank crews. There is no rea reason not to include it there. One thing is that M1 effective range was up to 270 meters (300 feet) so it wasn’t that cqc weapon - it was rather uniform weapon desinged for paratroopers then first then adopted to service along with M1 Garand.
With the current state of the M1 carbine why would you ever want to use one over an SMG? The carbine hits slightly more powerful than an SMG but for some reason has the recoil of the Garand
It’s not about that, it’s about having it as an option because it is missed on assault troops. It wouldn’t mean you have to take it into battle, just you have the option if you want.
Do you have an reasoning behind that? Just curious because otherwise I’ll just discount and ignore your comment.
It’s mostly because it just fits the assaulters’ design. It’s a fast shooting weapon with a lower effective range. And yes the M3A1 is completely preferable but it’s nice to have a backup weapon when you’re trying to hold a point and can’t reload fast enough.
