I like the flak as it is, in some respects, esp in games like Moscow, its effectively an immobile tank with its 20mm cannon. I don’t mind that it has sufficient depression to engage infantry, it was often used in that role.
I think this is a case of ppl using the correct squad appropriately - ie use Engineers to create defensive points.
In many cases the AI kills off half the Engineer squad anyway as you try to maneouvre towards the objective, so you’re likely to be operating 1-2 engineers out of the possible 6, noting that most ppl will have an assaulter, AT or RO in that squad as well.
Since currently build capacity is individualised this already limits what this role can do in game under typical circumstances. Personally, I don’t think any changes are really warranted to the gun itself, as some of the other posters infer there are options, but you need to rely on the team to bring it all together.
The call out should be for the gun to be marked by players and targeted with Artillery. It will consistently neutralise open topped “vehicles” in its AOE, particularly if you have an RO squad which can repeat the fire mission every 30 sec.
Just hold off on the rush, for 60 sec, mark the target throw some smoke into its LOS to limit the damage to your side, and call out for arty, bombs or a tank.
