For example this squad:
this 383 can go up 29 levels I suppose each level cost 1800 experience ???
Then this squad reads:
then this one the 375 it can only go up 23 levels but each level cost 7570 ???
The big whiny complaint is that as one progresses through the campaign it basically takes forever to get squad upgrades to the extent that it is perhaps to much of a waste of time playing with a noobie squad that basically hardly ever upgrades so ya have a few soldiers in it thats it then you do not have for example an engineer or anything else its just the squad specialty and a couple of troopers seems its so much more advantageous to play with a squad that you obtained earlier in the game that has 3 or 4 specialty units in it and more units. Mainly because this squad your using that you got later on in the campaign basically will never get enough experience points to really change it well it might in a year or so of playing … in addition it took forever to finally get the squad because the next squad in the campaign seems to take longer and longer then when ya get it - seems to take forever to gets some upgrades.
It is really annoying that they massively hike up the xp requirements for the tier 2 squads.
As if this game didn’t have enough grinds within grinds. I feel like this is one area they could have given us a break in.
On the plus side the tier 2 squad bonuses usually aren’t that big, so you don’t miss out on much.
But it is annoying that if you want the MG nest from tier 2 engineers you’ll need to level up the squad to unlock it, which takes ages.
Also, to use a high level tank you need to create a whole new tier 2 tank crew to use it which is very annoying.
Yes, the higher the squads are, the more points are needed to proceed and get new levels. And I agree, the difference in XP shouldnt be THAT high as it is at the moment.
But you dont have to play the new class of soldiers introduced with the new squad IN this squad.
The example with the tank crew was mentioned. I assigned those new “noob” tankers to my elite first tank platoon. So they got experience relatively quickly, because they had the squad bonuses.
My experienced tankers were assignet to the new platoon. The had their class bonus for the first tanker class, so they proceeded relatively fast, too.
I have the last suad in Normandy, the flamethrower class 2, now. Class 2 soldiers went in my first squad, class 1 into my new squad.
You both hit the nail on the head I took my sniper 2 guy I got when I finally got that squad and stuck him as a sniper in one of my other squads I have had a long time. The sniper 2 squad thought since I have to use it to get upgrades for the sniper 2 guy for example for him to be able to carry a backpack etc. I would have to use this new sniper squad a lot in order to get the personnel upgrades for this sniper 2 unit and I wonder if it is worth that. IMO the sniper 2 squad is a joke as far as the squad upgrades because it is exactly like the first sniper squad you get as far as what units you can put in the squad for example engineer or arty radio guy vs assault or boomer choice since this is a 2nd tier squad or something or whatever ya call it because it is a sniper squad ya get later on the game it should have the ability to have a boomer guy, an assault guy, and an engineer guy, and 3 snipers as it does now … instead it only gives you the same options as the first sniper squad you get way back when … consider that now a person can get a super good tank at this point in the campaign … well, … the new sniper 2 squad should be more than just the same ole sniper squad ya had before except you can run with sniper 2’s heck I could just buy sniper 2’s and put em in the original sniper squad there is zero reason to play with this squad other than to get upgrades for the individual sniper 2 person …
You do need to play that squad as that is the only way to unlock their ranks, backpack and modding of the weapons.
EDIT: ohh I see what you mean, yeap that should help a bit
And there are 3 stupid sniper squads now my entire reserve is nothing but varied levels of snipers locked behind giant grind fests just to rank up the snipers
Yeah its kind of like some kind of drug we are on we have decent soldiers with decent levels but we keep putting in lesser level soldiers with zero experience that supposedly are lousy and this is so we can get them leveled up so we can send them to the academy to loose 66% of them so we can get one dude at level 5 …
