I have some Assaulter 1 soldiers from the 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment in the Normandy Campaign. The lowest Assaulter class in the US Research Tree post-Merge is Assaulter 2. Is there any way we could get these antiquated Assaulters homologated to the new system?
ALTERNATIVELY, could there be any way to add a mechanism to retrain a soldier to upgrade its class level so that I could send an Assaulter 1 away to have him retrained as an Assaulter 2? I’d be fine if the fresh Assaulter 2 had to start over as a ★☆☆☆☆
i like keeping my assaulters 1 as a legacy soldier but i wont be against if they allow us to change them into assaulters 2

I’d be fine with them making it stupid expensive to “retrain” a soldier. As long as it’s available, it gives something to do with them.
When I’m stuck with a limited squad roster, none of “my guys” from back in the day make the cut. Using the Assaulter example, I have Assaulter 3s on all my squads with Assault positions and those earlier guys who were very important in the Normandy Campaign just never get put into anything.
I have another suggestion I put up for expanding the rosters but the only reply I’ve gotten doesn’t like the idea.
I’d rather build a roster per theater and have to build them all up. Anyone can set focus on one squad and max them, but it’d be my ideal if you had to dedicate each squad to a theater. Being able to retrain your “best guys” would be a great way (at least I think so) to keeping them relevant and positioning them in places where they’re going to get used if the matchmaking dice roll their number.
You’d lose out on Assaulter I’s inherent perk

Right, so if they let you upgrade your soldiers as you want to, you could choose that you value the free 1 pt climbing speed perk of an Assaulter 1 more than the extra perk points that come from retraining him to be an Assaulter 2 then again to be an Assaulter 3 or if you value the extra perk points more than the Assaulter 1 perk.
But then why not just buy Assaulter II’s and III’s?

Because my Assaulter 1 has been with me since the first day I played the game
You can sell em if you want. Or throw em into an old squad for safe keeping
Or eventually, I can hopefully retrain them and upgrade them to the more advanced class
