Update Criteria for Battle Hero Awards

The requirements for Battle Hero Awards need to reflect the related actions a soldier is performing.

I have encountered this situation a number of times with several different types of Battle Hero Awards:

It appears that Battle Hero Awards are given based solely on number of kills, rather than on specific actions (i.e. Best Fighter Pilot award given out without any plane kills, Best Radio Operator without calling in an airstrike, Best Engineer without building a single fortification, etc.).

There are some people who spend the entire game building fortifications for their teams that directly result in a Victory, but lose the Best Engineer award to someone whose Engineer didn’t build anything but may have shot an enemy.

Likewise, a Fighter Pilot just flying around practicing stunts away from the battlefield and happens to fire a stray MG round into an enemy will receive Best Fighter Pilot without having encountered a single enemy aircraft.

After these criteria are updated, it would also be great to post these criteria somewhere where anyone can access them, whether that is in the game, on the website, in Game Rules, or elsewhere.

Also consider further Battle Hero Awards categories, such as Best Defender or Best Attacker for the most objective kills.

You are a solider first and engineer second. A hero is hero for defeating the enemy not building barbwire in (I cant use the word I want) lets use instead… tactically deficient locations.

then have award for best soldier.

this is half russian forum, so you can use almost any word you want :stuck_out_tongue: building 1 rally point that spawned 1 player (other than you) gives you more xp points than building 10 barbwires in stupid locations. and engineer that builds rally points placed close to caps are key to winning the fight. not engineer that made 20 or 40 kills overall.

This happens way to much for that to be correct

You only get 1 point for each image for the following items: Everything you build!

Try it in the practice mode. You get points for people spawning on your rally point but not engineering points as highlighted in the original post.

like i said it is only half russian forum. so there are too many snowflakes that report posts if they feel offended by it. but most post just fly under the radar.

also it is not true. rally points generate points every time someone spawns on them, but that is why in my topic i suggested not having engineer measured in built structures, but by earned engineer xp. building individual structure gives you 3xp, having someone spawn on rally point gives you 30xp, having someone replenish their ammo gives you IIRC 15xp, having someone get damaged on barbwire 5xp and IIRC if someone was behind sandbags while enemy was shooting at him gives you 5xp. so most useful engineer will be the one who earns most engineering xp and not the one who builds most structures.

You are an idiot.

and proud to be it. btw explain more…

Winning the battle and the XP that comes with it is the reward for defeating the enemy. Best Rifleman or All-Around Warrior awards can given for those achievements.

Yes, kills are a main factor in the outcome of a game, but then why have any Battle Hero Awards at all if they all have the same criteria? Rename them Deadliest Radio Operator or Most Lethal Engineer or something if that’s the case.

I agree that building a whole bunch of barbed wire isn’t enough to prove that an Engineer is the most valuable. Like @robihr said, the XP generated from structures is a much better way to evaluate the worth of an Engineer. A well-placed Rally Point or AAA Gun can change the tide of a game.

It is not just Best Engineer that is the issue. What is the difference between Best Fighter Pilot and Best Attacker Pilot? It is simply the type of plane being flown. A player can receive the Best Fighter award without the enemy deploying a single aircraft for the fighter to fight. If that fighter pilot does get some kills on the ground, then give them the Best Attacker Pilot award.
I’ve received Best Radio Operator before when I didn’t directly kill anybody -let alone call in an airstrike- I just dropped a grenade as I was killed.

In summary, the criteria for Battle Hero Awards should be updated to reflect related battlefield contributions and then documented somewhere public.

If your team is on offense, the number of enemies you kill is irrelevant if the objectives are not achieved. The team on offense has finite reinforcements (1000), the defense has infinite. One soldier killing 100 defensive players can mean nothing if it doesn’t help the team take the objective.
