Add the T97 early in BR2 TT, and the T89 late in BR1. This would give Japan some actually decent tank options at BR1, and help bridge the gap that currently exists between the severely underpowered BR1 light tanks, and the actually half-way decent T2 Ho-I (which probably never saw any combat, historically).
The Ki-43 MIGHT be a good addition at BR3, giving Japan an actual fighter option at that BR. It also is already in Warthunder, so the assets exist.
Of course, actually giving Japanese light tanks HE rounds for their pea shooters would go a long way to making them slightly less terrible.

We need Type 97 and Type 97 Kai both in the tech tree!
The Chi ha tank is already in the game and it is literally the best premium tank of the first Br
so it is unlikely that it will be introduced into pumping or will see a worse version without cumulative
Specifically the up-gunned version. The premium version can stay that way. Although it is kind of silly that the most numerous Japanese “medium” tank is premium.

Imagine if the Tiger was a premium thats literally the situation the Japanese player base is facing… I dont give a rats ass thats its a premium. I bought the damn thing and I would still like a tech tree version. The only reason i dont have the Chi-Ha kai is cause I Missed out on the event because i was on training excercise.
Japans two most effective tanks are behind a paywall and thats ridiculous!

Chi-Ha Kai (which was in event and some people def as I learned wouldnt like it being added) belongs to BR1 even without it being considered for TT.
Germans already have III J that is better in every way now that its going to receive turret traverse speed buff, Soviets have 45mm almost from the beginning, Americans have their 37mm and 40mm that are better suited for tank combat.

I’m telling ya many of us have brought up the HE rounds for the Ha-go or Ka-Me (as they DID have these historically) but you will get Sh*t on for even mentioning it. Yes these rounds we be severely underpowered and probably wouldnt do much. However, it would just be a nice addition and if anything the FAIR thing to do (considering you might as well just skip ever using those pieces of S otherwise). The HE rounds would at the very least give us some F-ing reason to actually use them.

When I wrote this post I didn’t search for “Chi-Ha Kai” and mistakenly believed that it had not been added to the game.
This is yet another case of stuff that Japan ACTUALLY FIELDED IN NUMBERS being event or premium while stuff that either wasn’t fielded or, produced in any quantity is in the TT. Heck, the Ta-Se was a prototype, ffs.
Far as people who will be upset at it being in the TT. If they quit (and they probably won’t), oh well. I firmly believe that Japan having decent tanks at low BR is more important than a few people complaining because they had to play the game to unlock it. While other people now have to… Play the game to unlock it.
On one hand; you are correct. On the other, we go from actual garbage (all the Japanese light tanks) to a middling BR2 (Ho-I) tank (One, that I might add, was not made in numbers and likely never saw combat). I would wager that the Chi-Ha Kai would be more deadly than the Type 89, which is why I suggested it the way I did.
All that said; I’m pretty much yelling into the void. Nothing I’m saying here is going to change anything, anyway. Either the devs will go back and address the sub-optimal vehicle choices for low BR Japan, or they won’t.
I just have a bit of a compulsive desire to state my opinion, regardless of whether it changes anything or not.
