Type 96 lmg

Quick question to anyone who unlocked it:

It has a scope on it, same way the type 97 does. Is it usable, or devs only modeled it for show and only iron sight can be used??

The scope is not usable in the game.

That’s a pity… I could have used it the same way as for type 97…

Not a bad lmg thought.

I don’t know why this gun specifically can not use the scope, but I can try to guess.

Naturally when looking through a tube, the end of the tube furthest away from you will be smaller than the one closet to you.

natural-perspective

But in Enlisted when looking through a tube ( a scope) it look like this

The latter is possible because the gun is rendered on a different camera layered on top of the other camera that render the environment. The dev can change the property of the gun camera without effecting the other camera.

What happen is the gun camera FOV is decreased so that the scope appear big and then the gun is moved forward away from the player to achieve the skinny scope effect. When you strafe you can see the area between the two ends of the scope moving around, so I don’t think the dev project a camera view onto the scope lens texture.

My point is that when you zoom in you look straight through the scope of the 3d gun model. The scope on the Type 96 LMG is not straight.

If the same technique is applied you will not see through the scope. It can be fixed if the dev do picture in picture render, it’s probably too much to add that just for 1 gun in the game.

I would be cool to be able to use the scope.

should be allowed to use the scope if mounted but still funny to bayonet charge with an lmg, also on a related note the type 96 is one of the most accurate lmg if not the most accurate one

Yeah I found the accuracy pretty weird, in a good way. Compared to the first lmg unlock, probably worse than the madsen.

And yes, using a bayonet on a big lmg is nothing short of hilarious. It’s like Japan did not understand the concept of making something too much (but forgot about the idea on their tanks, making it not enough)

While the reasons for use of bayonets on weapons such as LMGs is not as well documented (and subject to many myths at this point), it should be noted that the Japanese were hardly unfamiliar with the applications of light machine guns and their conduct in war. A notable idea of why they may have installed bayonets on their LMGs is less for its applicability in combat, but instead as a sort of multitool ballast to help mitigate recoil. That said, it is worth noting that it is a peculiar decision no matter the case, as I believe they’re the only major power in WW2 to operate such a fixture in their doctrine.

As for tanks, the Ha-Go and Chi-Ha were pretty darn good designs when they first entered service; the problem really being interwar tanks being the backbone of a military’s tank force by 1942 is horrifically obsolete, and the military’s neglect of tank development after 1938 did few favors in that space.

That said, their ability to navigate through the near-nonexistent infrastructure of the CBI theatre did prove a useful advantage; a crappy outdated interwar tank is a more effective weapon than a tank that cannot make it to the battle in the first place, and there were more than a few cases in Burma of Shermans collapsing bridges and otherwise having a really bad time navigating through the terrain where the Ha-Go and Chi-Ha were otherwise comfortable.

Really, well crap, that was the only saving grace I was hoping for on the Japanese. I wonder where the devs got their models from because the tanks also have a rear facing MG that is unusable. I feel like the Japanese are just getting screwed out of everything they could use to balance the fight.

Wait till next war thunder br mechanics gets implemented, when Japan will have either the choice to endure m13 spam using maximum their crap 20mm aa, or use the only decent tank they “have” (from event) and face m4, or at least Normandy Stuart

They outsource the weapon modeling to ArtVostok Studio

The models they make are very good.

The models are pretty decent, but the implementation of the models often is not. As I said before.

Ok, this made my respect for the devs drop slightly.

They have dagor engine from gajin, vehicle models from war thunder and outsourced weapon models.
It looks more and more like a game made from assets with minimal effort.
The only big thing they seem to work on is AI that is shit.

PPSh looks crap. Old one was better

And even the models from WT are outdated ehm sorry remeasured to be balanced.

Ppsh is weak. It shoots too fast and you WASTE bullets.
