Two most realistic and reasonable suggestion for select-fire

Until today, i’ve seems many suggestions to balance select-fire rifle. From as simple as just nerfing the gun to more complex thoughtful idea. Among them, I found two best idea so far in forum. What you thing best?

  1. Make new class (paratrooper/scout/comando/etc). This idea is to make a new class that specialized to these select-fire weapons. Same as assaulter or mg gunner, it will have a squad and can be added by techtree with research.

  2. Ratio in squad
    For example of 9 men squad, do you want to arm all your 9 troops with SF? No you cannot. Either choose 4 men with SF and the rest with BA. Or 2 SF and the rest with semi-auto. Or, arm 5 men with SF, but you don’t have 9 troops, instead only that 5 with SF. There will be ratio between SF-SA-BA for each squad and player shall set there armament of soldiers in the boundary of the ratio.

In brief, both ideas have their own uniqueness and can balance select-fire spam. What I personally think it, that it is ok to be some weapons OP, but then it should be less present in battle. I perfer this than just mundanely nerfing things to make all gun equal.

i like all this changes cause it is how the game should have been since THE BEGINNING. But right now after the biggest and nastiest grind i have ever have in my entire gaming time. Nope! you take away my set ups that i have grind for and even payed some good money to get premium and get those unlocks in a normal matter, and i can tell you to f**** off… there is no compensation that can be done for this types of changes. and i bet that you havent even everything unlocked and perfectly set up for at least 1 faction. Because if you knew the grind very well you wouldnt be suggesting such a thing.

As partial owner of #2 I’ll vote for that one. Though I’ve suggested ways to make #1 work too.
Its a complex problem that just nerfs and buffs cannot fix.
But beyond just squad composition there needs to be balance in squad selection to prevent people from spamming nothing but SMG and LMG squads.

That is the big picture. I find most people tend to see small picture and small tweaks without looking at the whole problem and its complexity.

Some of the SF spam comes as a direct result of trying to be as effective as possible to counter what we face.

I honestly in my heart believe that is why the SA nerf happened.
Multitudes of players were spamming whatever was most effective in their arsenal to counter whatever they faced.
I even did it to a degree with my G43s because it could at times hold its own in CqC situations.

So, before we do either #1 or #2 in this list we need to first examine the fundamental reason that it happens. And address that first. Players gravitate to what makes them most effective. Some people are outliers, and like myself run mixed squads and mixed weapons regardless of the ‘norm’.
Somehow , we need to make that the norm. I think it might just slow the pace of battle down just a little.
Because let’s face it, if you know that you have 3 near identical squads in loadout and effectiveness you are less inclined to be as cautious and much more aggressive because the consequence of doing so is minor.
But if you only have one really good cqc squad, you may be inclined to preserve them for the push, or a desperate defense.

I play exactly that way in essence already.
I tailor all my squads mostly for purpose. Or run squads that can handle specific situations.

The more diversity, the more we can balance properly. IMO.

Let me ask to you. Would you rather want no one plays the game all your effort and money become 0 value or want to keep game alive. Your argument is the most disgusting argument i ever heard in forum and now I want to vomit cuz how f*cking egoist you are. Yes i have spent money, yes i grinded for day, and yes i have maxed faction. And i want my game be better, nota money sucking 001011010011011 that when DF turn off the server it become 0.

As someone whom is almost max level for 6 of 8 factions, and now working slowly on the last two, I dont agree with this.

First and most importantly , the Devs will make whatever changes they see fit. We rent the squads we have, and even in the fine print all of our digital squads are subject to change for balance without warning.
This has already happened en masse multiple times and regardless of the money we have poured into the game, my squads from day 1 till now are very different.
So telling someone off because your shiny might be effected is pointless.

This game needs to foster and keep new players and F2P players. Changes are needed to do that.

Yes, exactly!
Devs can restrict select rifles however they want IF they also address the REAL spam problem. Select fire rifles aren’t even a problem, people most of the time don’t see them.
But yesterday I tried Berlin using 2 assaulters squad of ppsh41 and dt29 armed goons plus my old premium ppd squad. It was just dirty, and frankly perhaps even more potent than Select rifles squads…

If you want use the AVT, or FG42 you need use Role squads like antitank, Radio Operator or Engineer

Plus, giving those to radioguys is just silly. It’s already crazy that the class can bring two rifles on it’s own, giving it a machine gun or auto rifle is just… no.

Most of the problem we have and will have are pretty much same in principe. Something too much. Few SF? That ok, a full squads filled with SF? That’s a problem. One SMG or MG squad? Nice. But a full rotation spam of those? Something wrong. Few explosives? Ok. A full squad bombarding explosixes? Hold on.

It actually helped in making the real problems surface. It’s more fundamental than only sf rifles. So… it helped.

I left for 5 hours because I had an exam, and when I came back everything was in chaos, but what exactly did they discuss, since I saw that you were one of those who commented on the post the most

There is so much of a bigger picture at stake.
It is usually why I make the posts I do.
If I’m discussing for example Grey Zones. Its not because I have am issue with them. I’ve become very adept at nuking tanks in my time here.
Heck last night when I was on I nailed 4 T50s in a row on Moscow. But that comes with a lot of time invested, and sacrifice.
For the new player , they may not have the tools or knowledge to understand what is happening.

That is why I make the suggestions because the game needs to be sustainable.
Diverse.
If you run up against pure SF, SMG and LMG spam, its going to detract from the new player experience.
While fun in the short term , it kills the game in the long term.

I literally watched this almost happen from the Dev point of view on another title, until they finally made some core decisions that went against the vocal few and focused on the better overall picture.
And , it worked. The game is in a much better place now (at least when I left it) than it was at the beginning.
Enlisted needs that mentality and focus and it will be a better place.

In short:
SF rifles aren’t the real problem. People DO can spam them it’s true. But restricting ONLY SF will just make the real meta stronger (automatics squads cycling smgs and lmgs). Spam will still be here.

So we found out devs COULD restrict sf rifles (not to radiomen as it’s just weird) but they MUST also prevent automatics squads spamming. Players already bring only smg squads and lmgs squads, without having to use anything else.

im okay with whatever change the devs might want to do. but they must have designed the entire game this way for a reason. and the changes he is proposing are things that are there since the beggining of the game. it is a change on game design. that will affect everyone on all the factions. and most people that suggest this is because they havent played the game as much. but if you feel good about it its okay, after all i just gave my opinion. a selfish one towards those that are constantly getting obliterated by full fg42 or m2 carbine squads, maybe… but my opinion.

Atleast SMG squads as Soviets make more sense since they did use large numbers of them in Berlin. Its Normandy where the Germans can spam 3 full MP43 squads besides FG42s, MG42s and Panthers on support thats more dirty than Soviet SMG squads.

There are some matches where the only way to win the match is to spam meta squads because teammates are not well equipped with the best weapons available as what happened in some Normandy matches where the Germans only won because of 1 guy with full MP43 squads.

this is not even an issue FFS. There are rarely 1-2 people at most in a match with full full-auto squads. Most times there is none. Just people in this forum believing that their perceived issues are “killing the game”

A few things, he is only posting two suggestions as seen from the vast majority of content on the forums.
As I stated, #2 is actually in part one that I have made multiple times on here.

Game development is very complex. I have been blessed to have been a part of the core on 2 titles from the literal beginning of time with them.
Games start with a concept and then you start to fill in the blanks. From my understanding on Alpha to now there have been a lot of core changes in weapons from the very beginning and lots has changed from then till now, and more is to come.

Many have been really healthy for the game.
Some, not so much.
The fundamental reason for all the topics based on FGs and weapons specifically have been because the core of the problem is not being addressed properly. And if that takes a dynamic change that effects all of us then that is what needs to be done, otherwise we will stagnate.

I have played the game a lot. Probably too much from time to time.
And I’ve played Devils Advocate on many issues here because I know what it can look like from the other side of the fence. When keofox made his reddit post, we all got to take a glimpse of what it looks like. I used to see those docs all the time.

The game needs change. It is going to suck perhaps for those of us at the Apex of our unlocks (I’m max 4 Axis, and almost at the end for allied Normandy while working the other allied factions too).
But I can accept that change because at the end of the day I want to play this game for a long time, and the best way to do that is make the changes that retain new players, and make them stay to spend the money that keeps the devs working.
