Two backpack ideas

Currently we have 3 types of backpack:

  • More grenades
  • More medkits
  • More ammo

Each of these comes with a basic variant, and a large variant that is 3x as effective as the basic variant. So I suggest the following:

Universal backpack

Combines all 3 of the basic backpack effects. So +1 grenade, +1 medkit and some bonus ammo.

I’d also like to suggest a replacement for the vitality perk that would slot into the backpack slot:

Body armor

After reading this topic on cuisine royale:

I think the “stopping power” mechanic could be implemented for body armor. Body armor would offer a 50% or so damage reduction on the part it covers (torso), with like 5 pain threshold points. Pistol caliber stuff like SMGs would have 2 stopping power, meaning that they will go back to 75% damage on the third shot, and full damage on the 4th shot. (semi) Automatic rifles would have 5 stopping power, doing reduced damage on the first hit and full damage on the second hit. Bolt action rifles would have 7-10 stopping power, dealing 80% or so damage on the first hit.

Of course, mix n match large backpacks could also be a thing, such as one that offers +2 grenades and +1 medkit etc. But personally I think those might be a bit too flexible as the one mentioned above or the +2 medkits +1 grenade would be instant meta and beyond those two you wouldn’t have much reason to pick any other backpack.

I remember there were some body armours for soviets at berlin

irl, they should be immune to MP-40’s but anything else including StG-44 and VG5-1 will go straight through

I’m still curious how will these body suits be balanced

Pen indicator? :upside_down_face:

Jokes aside, my only concern is the max damage it can take. I know what you want to do here but I don’t think it makes sence from the realistic point of view. Those shots would have to be quite close to each other to break through steel plate.

The issue with backpacks at present is that they are pretty naff.
The large pack really doesn’t need to give you 4 medkits, but at the same time the small ammo pouch only gives you one extra magazine which is totally useless, particularly on riflemen.

I think this needs reworking and the addition of either more or diverse and as you say, universal kits.

What would also be cool is if the trooper is equipped with a pistol, then a pistol holster appears on the character.

Body armour sounds like a good change for the vitality perk, but again, that would only apply to Berlin. But not that the CBT Prem squads are much less common, then it’s much less obvious that they are any better than standard troops.

The body armor should be clear enough to see.

Repeated hits near each other could do that, but to not overcomplicate things, I think just making it lose its effectivenes after a few hits works fine. It would not be repairable.

This already happens with these backpacks so I assume it will happen to pistols too in the future.

I feel that adding any type of armor would make most other backpacks useless, most people would get it because of the advantage it can give to the user . I also think it would be pretty OP against new people who don’t understand the game. Yes i get the “stopping power” mechanic but we have to think that most engagements in Enlisted between 2 individuals end rather quickly, most times before a shooting a forth time (talking about the submachine).

I’m all in the universal backpack as a final reward on the campaign or something similar, but i don’t agree on the armor.

i disagree.

we would just end up having the same ammount of stuff that could have been carried before the OBT.

giving opportunities to money whale to just buy everything right away having almost no counters.

that’s why i think the current system balance super soldiers from having too much stuff.

i had the same idea:

immagine

but for those said reasons, if i can, i would like to prevent it.

this game is somewhat of a cluster fuck on his own, i think that there is no need to make it worse…

not to mention, we had somewhat of a similar system but with perks before.
and look where that one leaded us to.

I like this idea, apart from the usefulness it also gives a cosmetic to the soldiers since right now the just wear a uniform and a backpack instead of ammo pouches, shovels…

weather i could agree.

there’s an issue in the principle.

soldiers that cannot wear a backpack and pouches, it’s really stupid.

but i do embrace it because of balance.

as you are a CBT, you should know how it was like before, and how much stupid it was.

at this point, i don’t even know.

unfortunally, devs allowed to make money whales ruin their own game.

I agree 100%

It was indeed pretty dumb

The devs can’t do much about this, if the money whales weren’t there we would have no game at all. But still, it’s sad to see the potential in this game ruined.

i’d say 90% that this statement, is quite false.

considering that they were going for the premium squads either way.

battlepass included.

there was absolute no need for make moneywhale being able to buy everything from the start.

just a couple of days ago, and no, i’m not kidding,
me and my friend encountered a sherman.
in less than 3 fucking day from opening of the openbeta.

now, it wasn’t that big of a issue because he didn’t know how to play at all.
since he kept using his side armor insthead of the frontal armor against us.

but the problem is, that way, if he knew how to play, that would have been stressfull and not fair at all.
not to mention, he is making his own game experience shorter, and the people he stoms into, even shorter because of their fun ruined.

there is no effort what so ever, he took a valuable spot of the tank in his team, slowing further more his own team thinking that he could handle that by him self.

it just brings out the worst. and not exscusable at all.

that’s why things should be unlocked in order to let feel people rewarded and feel interestr in keep playing this game. in order to let people understand their value. or perhaps, the only " advantage " that you could and should buy, are only the premium squads alond side premium vehicles.

and the only microtransactions that should be a thing would be cosmetic.

but i guess this is just my opinion.

Maybe make ammo amount a weapon related feature instead of making it an item?
(It can still have visual effect.)

sorry i misunderstood, by money whales i thought you meant the higher ups of gaijing. Apart from that i agree with you

Whats with shoties?

I have noticed that the vitality perk has gone, it wasn’t on my PPk squad earlier today.

Oh it’s not gone. It just costs 16 slots and isn’t default equipped. Also arguably 75% medkit usage + 200% medkit effectiveness beats +35% health.

I didn’t look to see if it can actually be equipped, but at least the premium squads don’t have it as default anymore.
