When I fired the game up yesterday for the first time, my flight stick(Logitech Extreme 3D Pro) was assigned controls in the game and was kind of like the default control in game. But it left neither the mouse or the flight stick work, seems like both of them were conflicting. I had to remove all the controller assignments to start playing the game. It would be interesting to see what a flight stick can do with the in-game planes.
My suggestion would be to give people the choice to select what device is to be used for controls. And profiles would be nice thing for a long term too.
Enlisted planes are like war thunder realistic mode planes but with only first person view, if you want to try your joystick out, try it in war thunder
Both controls can be changed. On options-controls you have controls for a keybord and your gamepad/joystick.
You can have both connected and change the controls for how you wish them.
Actually I agree with the OP, when I opened up the game I couldn’t play because my joystick had been auto-assigned and my player just spun in circles, so I unplugged it and my player kept spinning. Had to manually delete joystick binds in the options to play.
War Thunder has an menu that pops up when you open it with a joystick plugged in. It asks you if you would like to set up your joystick controls or continue using only keyboard, that would be a helpful option for people who forgot to unplug their controller before opening the game.
