In CoD - WaW the Red Army is shown badass and brutal. I also like the Red Army in CoD - UO.
World at war is the best of the worst I agree.
Although I find it hard to imagine how it would be possible to show any faction in a bad way in a multiplayer project. (Although CoH somehow managed to even make it in multiplayer)
Oh yes, it’s the goddamn cursed symphony of bad one side and very neutral another. Only people who didn’t know nothing about the eastern front can make such a joke.
I think that in order to so artfully exaggerate some facts and keep silent about others, one must have a very good understanding of the Eastern Front.
Spearhead? Hah, hilarious bullshit!
please show desertion figures while making edits to profile too
Make some sense
Soviets are cool af in CoH2 ngl, proud B-4 direct fire guy here.
In itself, maybe yes. But the plot leaves a very unpleasant aftertaste. And in the online mode this sometimes leaks out.
The plot was fine to me, exaggerated in parts sure, and certainly some stereotypes, however nothing outrageously wrong. Certainly no worse inaccuracies as in all the other campaigns.
As a rule, we laugh at stereotypes in movies and games. Even at the ridiculous film Enemy at the Gates. However, I have never seen anything more disgusting than CoH 2. An dumb, angry and senseless product.
I won’t lie, I only played the first game, and I formed my opinion about the second based on video reviews. But for some reason I am absolutely sure that my opinion will not change in any way upon personal acquaintance.
I play it and its disgusting - you have to burn your own civilians. Not because it was, because some dumb plot editor
I think this is an twisting, exaggeration and an emphasis on one of the real controversial tactics of guerrilla warfare.
The first game is just better from a gameplay point of view, though the second one certainly added some nice features too.
What was so disgusting about the Coh2 Soviet plot? Summary executions for disobeying orders? The Enemy at the Gates style rear guard troops? Murdering the Polish Freedom Fighters?
Only Mission I recall like that was burning supplies to prevent the germans getting them, I dont remember killing any civilians in it?
It wasnt ever in a one doc. Only a some crazy mind of scenario editors who had a task was to discredit the exploits of people. As if the death of 27 milloins wasn’t enough.
What’s in the game: The NKVD squad commander constantly threatens to machine-gun his own soldiers from behind if they retreat without orders. This mechanic is even built into the gameplay — the ability “Trench chisel” increases the morale of soldiers due to the fear of being shot by their own.
The historical truth is that although orders No. 227 (“Don’t take a step back!”) and No. 270 existed, and the detachments (which consisted not only of NKVD troops) also existed, their role and scale were enormously exaggerated by the game.
The detachments were primarily engaged in restoring order in the front line, detaining deserters and retreating without orders, rather than wantonly shooting them. On-site shootings were an extreme measure, not an ordinary measure.
The main task of the detachments was not to shoot at their own, but to stop the disorderly retreat and return the soldiers to their positions.
The game creates the impression that the entire Red Army fought solely on pain of being shot by the NKVD, which completely negates the real patriotism, heroism and resilience of Soviet soldiers.
Win rates are a joke, and shouldn’t be kept IMOP. They can be artificially influenced by deserting, or just by living in the two man custom game mode playing bots where you rarely lose. Here is mine for what it’s worth. I didn’t realize that your win/loss tallies were included in custom two man matches vs bots, but they are. So, if someone is worried about losing a couple games, then go win a couple games vs the bots and get that percentage back up.
Did you play the same game as I did? That was very much not the case.
They fight very patriotically for their motherland, like very few times do I think otherwise, maybe during the penal squad mission?
Even Order 227 in that game is just a feature to stop players abusing the retreat button too much, its only in 1 or two missions as well.
