Tunisia: Grant VS Sherman

I have just unlock the last tank of allied Tunisia, and it feel not as good as I though.

Is it me or the Grant is better than the Sherman?

It you the sherman is better

It feels like the grant got better HE shell from its big canon. No?

They have bot a 75mm

I will ask you the same thing I ask my GF:

I know it the same size. But for you, does it realy feel the same?

Personally, I like the Grant better. I put the 37mm cannon on left click and the 75 mm on double tap left click. I can fire twice before reloading and shred everything that gets in my path. The only thing I don’t like is the height of the 37mm turret and the fact that sometimes, the 75 mm turret will get stuck and won’t be aligned with the 37mm one, but I guess we can’t have them all! Also, you will get more assist points, since you’ll have 1 extra man.

Dude, this is a bad example :man_facepalming:

Anyway talking about tanks, sherman and grant have the same ammunition (solid shot) a AP and enlisted standard HE, so outiside some magic by dev, the sherman is a better tank because of better armor, movement

The allignment of the sherman is worst. The periscope is neither align with the MG gun or the cannon.

They are both good tanks imo.

The Grant is at its best when using the Commander to fire both guns. The angles in the armor really help you from getting penetrated by lower level tanks and being able to tower over everything helps you peak over hills without being too exposed.
The problems with it is that while it’s nice being a tower in the battlefield, everyone and their mother sees you. Plus if you switch to the 75mm cannon Gunner, you won’t see the hit screen on the top right after shooting a tank.

Sherman came in and replaced the Grant for me. It feels a little slower, but putting on cruise control, you can easily go 20km/hr which is good enough. It’s an absolute tank destroyer, but still vulnerable enough to not be OP. AB’s have become my favorite targets with it because one HE shell in any spot of the tank is instant death.

If you’re more comfortable with the Grant, there’s no problem sticking with it. If the Sherman wasn’t added to Tunisia, I would 100% still be in the Grant.

I guess it will come down to your playstyle preference.

The grant has an additional 37mm which is effective against all Axis tanks and the 75mm comes with an arc of fire constraint which is somewhat offset by the effectiveness of the 75mm once you actually get it on target. Whilst sporting very similar armour stats to the Sherman its more vulnerable because of its height as well as angular as opposed to rounded facets.

In contrast, the Sherman II has the cast hull which in game arguably offers a better armour profile which trolls incident rounds from all axis vehicles except for the PzIV2 almost as well as the T-34.
Even the PzIII J struggles against it with the short 50mm.
Offensively, it has a faster turret traverse than pretty much all the axis tanks which means that if you combine it with a modicum of maneouvre your tank will have a much faster target acquisition advantage.

Yeah, the Sherman is better in all regards.

You can also pop out with the commander which gives you a deadly combination of two machine guns. A risky tactic but if you know when or where it works wonders.

Sherman is definitely better. The 50 cal. absolutely shreds infantry. I even prefer the Crusader over the Grant.

Yeah mobility and angling and cannon mobility make the Sherman and Crusader superior tanks for sure! But as a firepower mobile artillery tank the Grant was good at doing it’s job, just wasn’t designed well to be a main battle tank…

I prefer the Grant because of the two cannons.
Bring death and destuction on a massive scale.
