I find that the Grants can pen you with both guns and you have to aim for weakpoints. They have a better overall rate of fire, pen more of you frontally, and are harder to penetrate.
If that’s true I only ever ran into stupid Grant drivers who couldn’t pen frontally at all.
Well, I seem to run into all the good ones then. It is true. The Grant Hull is 51mm to the Semovente’s 50…and much much more sloped. The pen of the 75mm is the same…And both the 2 pounder and 37mm gun can go through the front of the semovente if well aimed. The turret is 75mm and heavily sloped on the grant by the way. Furthermore, the rate of fire, Machine guns, crew size, all favor the Grant. The Grant also has 14 hp per ton vs. the semovente’s 11 hp per ton. SO it is more mobile. The Grant is in all ways superior to the Semovente and it isn’t even close.

I’ve been able to get through it with the M14’s 47mm by shooting the mantlet.
The 37mm turret I haven’t been able to answer frontally with the M14. That I had to build an AT gun for.
Sure, you can get through the mantlet around the 75mm, but how much of the semovente can the A13 pen?

Fully agree with you that the Grant is better. I don’t own the Italian Semo but have killed a bunch of them and it just has so many downsides by comparison. The only thing that kills the Grant atm is aircraft bombs and infantry det packs. Tanks are free kills.
However it is important to consider that Axis will probably get a much better tank after that one. They may even get a Tiger eventually at which point the tables will turn.
