To increase the selection of maps, please hold regular contests with the goal of adding user-made maps to the map pool

Either every other battlepass, annually, or any other time frame as may be deemed convenient.

Considering the slow rate new maps are introduced, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to supplement the map pool with user-generated maps that are vetted by the community (who will vote for their favorite submissions among contestants) and the dev team (final adjustments).

Set parameters, restrict what assets can be used, what campaign the map is for- And so on for coherence.

Reward players with premium currency, unique cosmetics, or a combination of the two.

Win-win.

the premise of the suggestion is great.

i think that should go as well for user made skins similar to war thunder, perhaps custom made cosmetics, vehicles and so on and on.

but you are missing a key point.
that, apparently you aren’t aware of.

there are an insane ammount of issues with user generated custom made maps.

which speaking for experience, the editor that we have does not have a decent/basic terraforming ( that works like any other basic editor ) functions.

for example, good luck making mountains more defined, good luck making rivers, caves, underground passages, roads and so on and on.

we lack the tools to make custom made maps from scratch like many of us would like.

other issues are, majority of the user made missions are poorly optimized. not necessarily modders fault, or devs fault.

sometimes it can range by a tiny object inside the pavement creating a visual glitch that two textures collide and the whole server will start lagging.

other tiems, you find your self with objects collisions issues. more notable, are bunkers where for some reason, you clip through doors and there are solid objects which you can’t see but are there.
( looking at you bunkers of selow heights )

not to mention, the windows and doors that we have in the editor are actually different from the base game. so you have to convert them into different templates. which isn’t too much of an issue if it wasn’t for the fact that;

some of the editors maps are outdated. like, they use an older version.
so you find flying bridges, flying objects, different layout of houses ( primarily with moscow variants )

and the cherry on top, balancing them is not an actual easy task.

TLDR, we would need the right tools.

and the editor doesn’t get uploaded very often as not considered vital ( … i guess…“”“rightfully so”“” )

While I understand that there are limitations in the editor that would prevent players from creating fully unique maps, they are exactly that- Limitations. While the potential is hampered, there is still the capability to create with the tools you have.

Considering the number of reused assets that make regular appearances across different campaigns, even on supposedly bespoke and unique campaigns, I’m inclined to believe there is still value in what can be presently made.

There’s also the non-zero possibility of getting a more comprehensive editor, as well as updating old buggy assets for more stable versions.

its a good idea, as ro2 community maps become on the unique ro2 map (Bridge of druzhina, the nightmare)

and as Erika said, the modders have pretty good ideas, which the developer should polish so that the modders’ maps can come to the game

I don’t want to see anime skins on my tanks tho

There should be limitations

err…

not quite.

the only thing we can do, is modify current maps.

and try to deceive players into thinking it’s a new map.

that’s not how you make new maps.
( well, from a perspective, one might call it that )

it’s, not about that.

so, to make it simple,

let’s take for example war thunder ( which has the sdks )

there, you can use the editor to turn them into missions ( which it’s what we have ) additionally, and more importantly, a modder can create a new map from scratch ( Which it’s what enlisted is missing )

it’s not just about upgrading the editor or having updates issues.

i’m… not sure how you think, or what anyone can make an official map based on already existing ones.

which, unfortunately, there aren’t many custom made map on the portal either.
( i mean, that’s kinda understandable since custom made maps are heavy for the game to process with too many objects and what not )

and i could be wrong, what you’re suggesting is take the modification of a modder and create the ground around, place the trees, make rivers if necessary and so on, which it’s just unnecessary time consuming and unpractical as you still have to go back and forth to check the original and create things around… when… could be much simpler to give us a map maker already.

but… that’s not what i said

even ro2 has an actual dedicated map editor :skull:

what sort of limitations?

haven’t we had enough with the ones we have already?

I want to laugh at this given the current state of maps right now. But it hits a bit too close to home.

Official maps have this problem. The training map has a tree (which after being blown up turned into three) that kill frames, and the Fortified District is weirdly choppy if you look into the direction of the bunker.

Well personally I will delete all reverse invasion map(looking at you D-Day)

And making the game more enjoyable? Damn man, after the ammounts of bugs and crappy 4ss changes, I believe DF have no such intention
