I honestly have a bad feeling that this specific update is going to be the make or break moment of the game considering how much this divided opinions of the community even with all the Q&As and dev blogs with some parts spawned more questions than answered ones in the process especially the BR system and other changes to matchmaking, map selection, etc.
Regarding the BR system, I think those who defend it has never seen the bad effects of it in War Thunder such as bad BR ranges for certain nations, seal clubbing, smurfing, etc and honestly I think this needs to be reconsidered like test the nations in merged campaigns first with some soft rules before introducing some BR stuff. The lack of transparency on those mechanics is just concerning like we have no idea if it works well or not instead of surprising us at the update day itself that the execution is going to be halfassed as ever and waiting for some stuff to get reversed after a serious backlash from the community.
I’m not very optimistic about the future of this game and have some doubts if they are going to execute this progression update well knowing Darkflow not addressing some of the main core issues in the game or implementing bad game mechanics besides we don’t know how much control Gaijin has in the decision making on this game. I don’t see a reason why some people are excited for this as a veteran myself.
Even with those cons it will still be way better than a current system where newbie going to see Enlisted ad, download the game and get nuked by a Panther/Tiger in his paper thin Stuart it’s def not how he imagined the game going to play out, i bet i shattered the dreams of at least 50 newbies in my career (can i have a Dream Shatterer title?)
we only choose to trust the Alpha team and advise the development team on every detail as thoroughly and rigorously enough as possible.
And fantasy decision makers and digital planners do not drink vodka and they can listen to and take on board any suggestions, opinions and objections
Maybe the planners and decision makers who just caused the big event in war thunder not long ago were reassigned to enlisted
Overall im excited. I’ve been maxing out my Japanese army for the upcoming changes.
For the most part, i think the changes will be a good thing. BR Matchmaking will be a step up from what we currently have. Will it probably be a bit off on release? Probably, especially since assigning a BR rank for everything is a tricky thing to get right first try, but I have faith that things will be adjusted accordingly.
How is this different to War Thunder where newbies get greeted with an overwhelming amount of stuff and showing them the insane amount of grind right in their face? Besides playing a few matches full of bots then suddenly facing lots of veterans in low tier tanks with no clear sign if those are new players, seal clubbers or veterans that started grinding a new nation.
If this is going to be a 24/7 toxic sweatfest without a middle point then this is one of the reasons why I don’t get my hopes up on this new Enlisted thing considering the test server is a much smaller scale compared to the general population.
Both games are f2p grindy games so if someone doesn’t like grind they shouldn’t be playing those games.
If someone has experience with fps games they are going to fight with veterans at almost the same skill level as them, with BR rating you will never be at an absolute insane advantage that we have right now not only you have advantage of skill level but also gear, even most skilled pro gamer can’t win against Tiger with his crappy Stuart, merge has way more pros than cons i’m not going to change my mind only real cons is that we won’t be able to pick the map and campaign we want to play. Seal clubbing is fine because equipment going to be balanced around battle rating, and it can’t be worse than current version where newbie need to play with kar98k vs tryhards with as-44, fedorov, avt-40 and ofc ppsh-41. You are overreacting like merge going to kill the game, while game felt kinda like a ghost town for so damn long time with not enough players and teams full of bots (Pacific Allies, Tunisia Axis, Berlin Axis that reversed and now Soviets are rarely played side)
You are putting trust on Gaijin too much sure the devs have some responsibility on problems like the Tiger vs Stuart or Puma vs Jumbo situation but there’s plenty of unanswered questions like how to make the games in general get the only average amount of sweat and not full on 24/7 sweatfests. Even the devs couldn’t answer why some people just resort to bot farms for a more relaxing experience instead of a stressful one with sweatfests. Some frustrating elements of War Thunder are already slowly creeping in to Enlisted anyway.
Lets see if the merge is going to fix bad teams which I don’t think it will as its already frustrating it is as seen now like the 10 marshals vs a bunch of privates-sergeants situation.
Would rather take this update in a more conservative and realistic approach but that doesn’t mean I want this update to fail unless it wants to fail through a poor execution.
I am of the same opinion, besides sometimes I see Stuarts taken by vets regardless of enemy armour, they have great maneuverability and good MG on top, this whole tiger vs Stuart reasoning is weak…
I am very concerned yes the devs won’t want to lose their current fan base, but they need to remember what brought us here in first place, HA, different campaigns, at least for me…
I feel tempted to write more, but if the devs mess up the game then there is nothing I can do. Same way updates break thing previously fixed, AT is messed up, 188 gunners, Paras capping points before defenders get a chance to fall back.
Now progression tree and BR, with no choice I have my fears, but if they don’t want the long termers to stay they will do as they feel… not a lot we can do.
Just hope they don’t mess up a very immersive, fun game which I was playing since CBT.
seal clubbing happens in the game all the time. BR MM will only make it so seal clubbing happens with same weapon tiers giving newbies a chance to fight back and will at least divert part of the veterans to higher MM so seal clubbing will be done less often than now.
also if you have crossplay on, console players will always be seal clubbed by pc players.
for me BR MM is a good thing, but only thing that breaks the game is bugs that arent getting fixed for years.
considering i was in both situations, this reasoning is not weak. stuart is good tank, but maps just dont allow it to be played to its strength. alternative is complete redesign of maps where tanks could be allowed to actually flank and with great reduction of gray zones. then stuart vs tiger would have weak reasoning.
I agree with you like the first time I came here in the first place was the variety of campaigns where I mostly played in Moscow prior to the release of Berlin. They could’ve separated the campaigns into fronts or theaters but the only faction that could play all campaigns all merge outside Pacific post merge is Germany since Soviets and Americans were separated on their respective fronts even without the front system.
they could and you would have even bigger problems than campaigns. how would western front function? you would have invasion of france and normandy in same front alongside their weapons. split them into early and late fronts? then you also have same problem as campaign system. also grind problem would still exist.
BR MM with effective 3 “fronts” is so far best solution. only thing missing in it is map selection and that could be implemented with soft veto system where you wouldnt compromise MM with hard map selection or hard veto map selection. you would play least hated map amongst 20 players.
Why pitty noobs?! We all were noob at the beginning and it was way worse. Inbalance more accentuated. I started enlisted playing normandy allies and i suffered like hell, it was the first faction completed. We cant roll the red carpet for them. Noobs have to learn the ropes, that is the way. And if they quit, they are just quitters. Cant make game easier because of weak mindset.
they broke progression down into tiers that lock players from battling against everyone depending on loadouts, this undid all my hard work to gain an advantage and it will also ruin all the tiny amount of immersion that remained in this game
so my thoughts are that this is a huge kick in the guts and them basically telling me they don’t want me playing or supporting this game anymore, message received loud and clear
I had no problem dumping Warthunder, Battlefield and Heroes & Generals, will have no problem dumping this crap show
