Thomspon still not reintroduced, instead replaced by Sten that was never used by American troops in Normandy. This makes no sense to me, but surely there is a reason?

True. Thanks for the advice

Cheers.

Odd thing is the practice thompson is different from the thompson that was in the previous test.

Looks like the practice one is a 1928A1 model. In 1944 the most common one would be the M1 or M1A1 Thompson. Which one was in the previous test?

Previous test was called the M1A1 but it was select fire.

Biggest difference I noticed was that it had the charging handle on the side rather than on top like the 1928

Keep in mind that it is extremely early in release. It will eventually come, I’m quite sure.

U.S forces would have been using the M1A1 at Normandy, with box mags only. The M1928A1 was supplied to Britain and the USSR in quantity, and had largely been replaced by the M1A1 in U.S service by 1944.

If I see drum mags everywhere, then I’m going to cry foul! They weren’t popular in military service, for a variety of very sensible reasons, and box mags were far more commonplace. I can’t even recall them being issued at all with the M1.

I’m certain theyll have a variant with a drum, probably a premium just like how we have the BAR 1918 as a premium weapon. I’ve seen pictures of Marines carrying the 1928A1 in the pacific however

In the Pacific, yes. But in 1944 Europe it should be the M1A1, with box mags only. Sadly, I get the feeling that the devs will cater to the lowest common denominator, and give folks the stereotypical Thompson instead.

Unfortunately I’m sure they will. If they do however it will be hard to balance with the lack of a drum on anything the germans had. We currently have have americans carrying ross rifles so a different Thompson isnt that bad

This is neither early release nor early development. The game has been accessible for over a year now, and in development for over 6 years. They have assets for the gun. They just chose to not implement it.

I am hopeful that the Thompson gun will return to the game in the Tunisia Campaign with the 100-round magazine.
