My buddies and I have noticed some weird stuff going on with the xp gain in the past few weeks. For example I have premium going so I should be getting double xp, yet several times now I get approximately the same xp as my buddy that doesn’t have premium, despite our scores being pretty much the same.
Additionally, it was brought up last night that by going through a whole bunch of squads (getting a pretty high number of squad deaths) my buddy got FAR more xp than the previous game where he had roughly the same kills, engineer points, vehicle kills, etc (overall score).
So I’m wondering if its promoting run-and-gun gameplay more by doing this? We can’t collect enough data on our own to confirm this, but it would be something to look out for.
That is pretty much what I’ve heard multiple times for over a year now, so this may be true.
Even though I am playing for over 2 years now I can’t really confirm it myself as I am always trying to “survive” with a single squad as long as possible, so basically for me it’s rare to lose more than 10 squads per game (still being somewhere in top 3 players) and I can’t really remember dying over 20 times ever.
xp gain should be transparent, but they hide the formula so they can boost bad players and nerf xp gain on good players.
IIRC there are several factors for xp gain. over the years these theories were floated on forum:
i can confirm vehicle one as true cause you can get 200 kills with plane/tank and get less xp than someone who made 50 kills with infantry and had multiple squads rotated (or maybe more deaths?).
there may be more hidden mechanisms that buff weak players and nerf good ones, but idk them.
formula could be possibly reverse engineered if you got stats from every soldier in squad and xp gain per squad. maybe x equations with x variables? idk if all variables are constant so it may be a fools errand.
if what is said has been true this is gonna create more aggressive ways of farming XP and more toxicity in this game
Yeah, I’ve had games that I survive for extremely long periods of time, sometimes its in vehicles, sometimes it on foot. No matter the case, it doesn’t seem to matter even if I have extremely high kills, assists, engineer points (I’m usually breaking 100 as is), points in objective, or vehicle kills.
Unless I die a whole lot, it definitely seems like its greatly limiting xp gain.
Which I could perhaps see them implementing as a misguided way to stop people that are only worried about K/D ratio, after all this isn’t COD. HOWEVER, just because I’m not going through a whole bunch of squads doesn’t mean that I’m not being helpful to the team.
I even had one game a few nights ago where I survived the entire game with a rifleman, cycled through several weapons, ended up picking up 2 MGs, and refilled them at the ammo box when I could. I was on every single objective, and had over 100 kills. Yet I received a measly 15k xp. Which is less than other games where I got only 50-60 kills or so but went through 8 or more squads.
I don’t even recive 15k XP when I do die a lot and get 100 kills…
think that motives are more selfish. good players would just finish grind much faster, so they introduced nerfs so they dont gain xp linearly. also they did that cause you could grind easily in vehicles.
look at these screenshots:
i forgot one more factor. time. longer games give you more xp opposed to shorter ones.
And that’s why XP hoarding is a problem and why people have to grind so hard because these stealth nerves if we didn’t have it we would probably have a lot nicer game and more teamwork instead of people hoarding kills and XP
YUP
Personally I think they need to change the order of things on the scoreboard. It focuses too heavily on kills overall. Things like Objective kills, objectives captured, engineer points, vehicle kills, whatever should all be ahead of kills. That way the focus is shifted away from “i have lots of kills” and shifts more towards “I played the objective”.
It may seem like such a small fix, but as someone that specializes in marketing design, I can say the layout of things makes a MASSIVE difference.
I don’t really care about XP or any of that, sometimes I have matches where I’m around the bottom of the scoreboard, others I’m one of the top players. I just play and sometimes this sometimes that. Not everyone is sweating
This game may be casual (and it’s great) but I have sort of a “meta” concept of teamwork, where I try to fulfill my class roles to the best of my ability. If I’m in a tank I’ll look at the map and try to rush towards groups of infantry to support them so they in turn support me, or if I’m a Machine Gunner I’ll find a nice spot to bipod or I’ll follow a wave of soldiers and directly support them. I’m just a little bit strategically minded.
I don’t think this game should have a voice chat because I like how it’s a good in between casual-arcade-hardcore, I just think players should be a little “class conscious”.
Son, current game doesn’t encourage twamwork or even the objective, is very bad for any PvP games with objetive that is not team death match or Free for all
Yeah, you kind of forgot to write about the subject of your post. I have no idea what you talking about. You vaguely mentioned xp problems and that’s about it.
It’s because I’m not the one doing the numbers I’m just starting the ball rolling
Because dev is too stingy to increase XP reward in cooperative gameplay.
Dev dont even bother to reward players who actually play for the target.
Seriously, only 150 scores for spending so much time and risk and potentially missing kill scores just to capture the zone?
BTW, If you cant guarantee you can win the match, go play the most selfish style can mostly guarantee you to get max 1.5x battle hero rewards plus not losing rank scores after the match.
Camping on a tank is much easier to guarantee the baseline of the match reward.
I suggested this months ago, nothing changed. So I think dev dont care either.
Let me rephrase: You never stated what the problem was with xp; you assumed everybody playing the game knows what the problem is. This has nothing to do with numbers.
if you look at Reaper and robihr replies they basically covered everything for me I didn’t have to do anything all I need to do is just start the ball rolling and now it’s done.
Thanks in advance Reaper and robihr because I know the community is certainly doing it so I don’t need to exactly go out there and count myself.
Why don’t the replies ever work when you want them to.
It’s true
The focus is too strong on xp and the game doesn’t reward teamwork
For example a player could play as spotter for his buddy in the sky, and communicate excellent up to date targets that will boost the players score in the sky but will leave the spotter at the bottom of the scoreboard
that spotting will also benefit the entire team, yet the spotter isn’t rewarded adequately for all his spotting work
Worst part is that this game actually destroys teamwork as players compete against each other on the same team and so you are competing against each other instead of cooperating
I remember someone from the enlisted discord can’t remember his name anymore at the moment but he was saying something along the lines of everyone on the enemy team is his enemy and even his own team is his enemy because his own team is his enemy because they’re gathering XP it’s his XP no one else’s so yes I agree
I rarely comment on this forum, but just had to in this topic.
Yes, you DO get far more xp if you die a lot…
I did an experiment once - and anyone can do the same and report the results here -
I just ran at the enemy repeatedly and got gunned down over & over again - and couldn’t believe how much xp I ended up gaining while only getting a handful of kills.
This game REWARDS playing badly & getting killed repeatedly.
Normally I try to survive as long as possible and don’t just ‘run & gun’, so when I discovered this it was really depressing.
I’m also VERY suspicious of the MM - they say there’s no MM system, but it almost seems like they deliberately match up veterans vs noobs.
Also - has anyone else had the experience where you play for one team & lose, so you switch to the other team… and lose - and keep switching teams yet still somehow end up on the losing team every time ?
I wonder whether they’re deliberately putting solo players against groups for some warped reason - to create frustration so that people attempt to resolve it by SPENDING MORE MONEY ?
