every match, I’ve died more often from artillery strikes than rifle fire… and I was doing my best to avoid it too. it’s like they know exactly where you are… not to mention I’ve seen some of these spammers waste an entire artillery strike on a single squad for no reason
Out of curiosity, what maps (or maps from which former campaigns)?
There seems to be an issue with Berlin and Normandy since the map selection is random it could be whichever between Soviets and Americans
Well, some Berlin and Normandy maps force you down predictable paths.
I have had experience in the Pacific where it felt like some glitching of artillery cool down was going on (maybe by using multiple squads). Maybe that’s more prevalent than i’ve noticed. Artillery called over and over with no break in between is pretty unpleasant if you’re defending. I’ll test it later tonight or tomorrow out of my own curiosity.
This is historically accurate.
During the WW2 era, the primary firepower of infantry units was more heavily weighted toward artillery capabilities than rifle fire, with artillery fire being the most common cause of combat deaths.
not to mention when a bot radio man calls artillery strike they cheat since its the computer and knows exactly where you are…
yeah I flipping forgot Roza Shanina got disemboweled by an artillery fragment… fudge
regardless this makes the game no longer fun, i might as well quit enlisted before i throw my fist into my computer
i really don’t think artillery is spam, but i also remember when artillery had a 30 second cool down and everyone could call one at once
The mini map will display the artillery area in advance, so unless you deliberately enter it for some reason, you will not be killed.
When you made this post I thought you were addressing on how the artillery goes through some roofs and turn some objectives into a meat grinder
Radioman artillery is no longer much of a threat, and mortars are the hottest thing right now.
If I start the game on the attacker’s side, I always bring a mortar. Hitting the CP right at the start can get me 20~30 kills in no time and I can drown in the adrenaline that is pumping through my brain.
If my allies are all campers and the attack doesn’t go ahead, I hunker down at the default starting point and spam the mortars. Last night I was able to get 100+ kills without moving a step from the spawn point.
I laughed when I saw a pissed off defender drive into the gray zone in an armored car and explode to death while running me over.
When using mortars on the attacker’s side, it is really fun to get a lot of kills just by dropping them in the CP.
If you can’t get kills at the CP, the defenders are usually a little behind the CP, so you can hit them there, and you can get a lot of kills again.
In some cases, the allies who have been camping can advance and take control of the CP.
Yesterday with a Stuka D-5 in Moscow, each pass I averaged 18 kills, according to your reasoning we should remove the bombs, then we remove the P47, then we remove the Tiger 2 etc…I think the players should push themselves to learn new attack, defense and support tactics and must learn to use all types of aircraft and tanks.
With the radio team. I don’t think everyone uses the radio squad, so consider that the gunner inside the non-specialized squads has a cooldown of almost 4 minutes.

Not sure but maybe it is just your playstyle that is a bit lacking…
The artillary is announced by the giant red circle and if you dont step inside it or are in a building you are 90% safe from it.
Just pay attention to the map and it isnt really a problem anymore.
The main problem with artillery are the very small and open objectives.
This is also why US loves to abuse rockets and 75mm M3 Howitzer in Normandy.
Take Stalingrad for example, most objectives are inside and can’t be covered with a single barrage thus artillery is less of a threat.
theres that rather notable red circle in map where artillery will appear.
Did you ever use smoke artillery?
Well noone ever did, and the other 2 options (default and bombing run) are made specifically for farming infantry kills.
I’d love if there were options like a single 203mm shot so you could actually try and aim at tanks with your artillery. And perhaps more diversification beyond that, to incentivize the use for anything other than farming infantry.
