This game should be on your radar if you're a fan of Enlisted

So I’m not sure if I should be or if I even can promote another game in the forums. But recently I’ve been playing this WW2 sim game that I bought on steam and I really thought I should share it with you guys since it shares a lot of similarities with Enlisted and its gameplay. It has a large focus on realism and historical accuracy. And also aims to portray the real aspects of the second world war. From the eyes of tank operators, plane pilots, and infantrymen. The game I’m talking about is Easy Red 2. This is the sequel to Easy Red and it’s definitely much more refined than the first. But Easy Red 2 takes place in 4 fronts atm, with more planned in the future I believe as paid DLC. It takes place in Normandy(D-Day ofc), The Pacific, and two other fronts, one being with the Brits and the other being with the Italians. I can’t remember which fronts those were so sorry about the lack of clarity lol(it’s 6 am for me rn).

Easy Red 2 gameplay-wise has a large focus on realism and capturing the different aspects of a battle. Here you can control tanks, planes, infantry, and even artillery. All of which have their own ways of functioning and play into battles differently. The game itself is squad-based and has very similar squad-leading mechanics to Enlisted. But the difference here being that in Easy Red 2, the squad leading perms are only available to who’s at the top in the squad hierarchy. So if the squad leader of the squad dies, the next person in the squad list gets the leading abilities. This allows them to place markers and give orders and whatnot.

In addition to this squad mechanic, there are also various roles in Easy Red 2. There’s ordinary rifleman, MG gunners, Radiomen, Medics, Squad Leaders, Engineers/Sappers, Flamethrower Units, Tank Operators, Plane Operators, Artillery/Mortar men, and I think that’s it. Unless I’m forgetting one or two there  With all this variation of the squad roles, you get a nice wide variety of weapons to use. But all of these weapons are locked to their specific role, so no changing weapons. This means that all the weapon load-outs are fairly historically accurate and can’t be abused from what I can see. All of these roles do feel fairly different from one another, especially when combined with how the squad-leading mechanic works. So I think it provides some really nice gameplay variation here. Various ways one can impact the battlefield if you will.

But the one thing about this game is that it’s made with low-end machines in mind. So you’re not gonna see crazy more realistic graphics like Enlisted here. The graphics department is where this game kinda doesn’t do that great visually. But for what the game is meant to be and what it’s trying to do, I think it’s acceptable. More so because the gameplay and the game itself outshine the primitive graphics.

Other than the graphics and gameplay mechanics, the game has players pitting themselves either against AI, or against other people. You can go online and do PVP or even PVE in servers. Or you can play totally offline with pure AI. In this game, the AI can quite literally do anything a player can. They can lead a squad, play any other player role, fly planes, crew tanks all by themselves fairly realistically as a player would. They can do it all and even offline it feels pretty epic. I myself have been indulging myself in the offline campaign missions and so far I’m loving it. These campaign missions are essentially just these Enlisted Invasion-styled missions that can have different objectives. There are even missions that are purely tank-based and put you in a tank alongside other AI. Overall, the core gameplay mode that’s centered around missions is incredibly fun. And is even fun offline with the AI themselves. All of this comes in this cheap game which is only $5, runs great on any machine, and focuses on realism and historical accuracy. Despite it being cheap, I really do think it’s worth every penny as the reviews say. And it’ll probably be even more worth it as of rn while it’s on sale. So yeah, if you’re a fan of Enlisted but would like to try something that focuses a bit more on gameplay rather than progression/monetization, then I’d really check this game out. It’s a nice little hidden gem that I think quite a few of you would like

Edit: forgot to mention that Stalingrad is on their roadmap as paid DLC. So that’s another thing I’m looking forward to!!
