Third person tank?

You cant really see where youre going as the tank can see one way but drive in another and to constantly look at your map is a pain. Can we get a third person view for tanks please?

No. This isn’t war thunder.

Change to your commander and press ctrl, it’ll be a better view.

No, please. Atm I feel tanks are much more balanced that in games like Battlefield V, and that’s because the devs have portrayed quite brilliantly their real life drawbacks.

Agreed. It forces tankers to be careful when moving up, as getting flanked by infantry is a very real concern here.

Disagree. It would make tank gameplay too easy and would stomp on the Infantry.

Absolutely not. That would be incredibly unfair to infantry, same as third person planes. And they are more realistic with the limited viewports.

No. That would give tanks huge advantage over literally everything.
Tanks were completely blind on their sides and backs IRL and I see no reason why it should be changed.
If you want to look around more to get through some obstacles you have to open commander´s hatch (which of course might cause your commander getting sniped).

No it’s not, I can just press W and immediately accelerate to mach 5 because this is clearly how tanks work.

The point was that getting flanked by AT infantry is lethal to tanks, while they shine at longer range combat or when they are supported by infantry. As it should be.

I see a lot of people saying no or getting angry but it was like that at the beginning. I remember playing on a previous version of the game where you had something like a 3rd person view.
take the exemple of the game Heroes and Generals, driving tanks is far more easier because you can drive at the 3rd person BUT :

  • your commander is out of the turre so he can get shot
  • you can’t shoot while using this view

That is what Enlisted does but it limits itself to what commander can see.
Another difference is, that you are allowed to order your crew to shoot, but people crazy enough to actually participate in fight while having commander looking out of the hatch are too rare (and it is not even viable thing to do from logical standpoint)

guess I have to rebind some keys then

I agree but they should remove the grenade marker when enemy throws grenade under your tank because the time before the grenade explodes takes forever like in holywood movies (the removed marker would only work at tanks not at troops)
