Things You Should Be Doing to Prepare For the Update - Discussion

Greetings!

I didn’t see any other threads like this and thought instead of scowering the comment sections on different posts I would go ahead and ask the forum for a compilation of tips people might have in response to the coming changes. I like many others would love to get the most out of the game while it’s in its current phase prior the update. Especially since many people lost out on different opportunities in prior updates (critical changes that had significant impacts on the game such as those with the academy and random weapon/troop orders being removed)

So what are a few (even small or obvious) tips that detail what we should be doing to currently get the most out of the game in in its current state?

Currently all I’ve been doing is grinding Stalingrad to get the Panzer IV G and Mannlicher M93’s since they won’t be available after its released, but I can’t help but feel I’m missing something or that I should be prioritizing other elements. I also read in a comment there will be some alterations to the currency and really didn’t want to regret missing out on information that might prove helpful.

We don’t know anything definitive about currency as yet. I think it would be a safe bet that things are cheaper now than they will be after the merge, and that the conversion rate to the new currency probably won’t be fantastic. But in those respects there is no reason to not wait until we get solid numbers to know definitively buying x is cheaper before the update than after.

If you got Stalingrad, dont forget to:

  • Level all the squads to max (Not a guarantee they will all be ingame after merge, but a prudent precaution.)
  • Grab as many sidearms as you want/need. 1 silver in this campaign (same goes for pacific)
  • upgrade as many weapons, vehicles and troops as you need plus spares (do after squads upgraded for maximum discount)
  • min max troop perks in Stalingrad while its fast and easy (again perks are changing, not sure how this will carry over) I recommend at least troopers III, assaulter III, engineer IIs and tanker IIs
  • Fill tanker squads with MP-717 :stuck_out_tongue: for armored assault squad.

*NOTE I’m also min maxing a few of the Class I’s incase they are linked to BR somehow. However there is a possibility that tiers of troops wont exist anymore.

All soldiers are getting standardized perk rolls.

and speaking of stalingrad, an useful tip for everyone else,

you can still send and get the thompson 28, the breda and the STZ 34.

all you need, is to have them unlocked ( the weapons ) in tunisia, and just transfer them for bronze to stalingrad.

regarding the STZ, juse use a gold order, and it will be yours.

and other great suggestions on what to do:

regarding the base game, it’s hard to predict what will happen.

so, in my opinion ( though i must admit “conspiracy theory” )
i feel like there will be a catch with this new system.

that latter gear will be incredible hard to get, so try to grind through custom games with alot of people.

for example, normandy, pacific and berlin allies are having a bad time right now, customs are great to occasionally win and do alot of experience.

( i suggest to go in lone fighter as well, as you get more xps and grind your inexperienced soldiers there )

Yes they are, but I mean its fast to get levels for perks in stalingrad atm. I assume you will still need to meet xp requirements before you can choose perks in new enlisted.

Could be wrong, just prudent precaution.

Great thread.

Any ideas on how many MP-717s or MKB-42s or other stuff I should buy before the merge?

Is it worth it to level up the planes of Stalingrad now?

This is just my speculation, but you should buy (if you want) some handguns from pacific/stalingrad campaign since they are only for 1 silver order. Their price could be bigger after merge.

Enough to fill 3 assaulter squads and all vehicles soldiers.

As for the thread, get pistols on Stalingrad they only cost 1 silver.

Why would you need Troopers (riflemen) though?
They are replaced by specialists in each squad anyway.

Or dont. But personally i think the rifle squad is a strong squad

  • 9 man squad
  • captures quickly
  • damage soak (trooper 3s are great rez bots)
  • will be particularly strong low- mid br

Dont forget rifleman will be relevant at all BRs, mannlichers through to fg 42 IIs and AVT-40s (arguably some of the best if not the best guns in the game)

What exactly does that mean? As in perks will be the same across the board?

I think he means the amount of perk points soldiers receive will be standardized.

For example all Troopers will always have 20/20/20 perk points to spend (not some with more or less)

Here is what I expect from stalingrad compensation.
The pack takes around 27 dollors to buy which if purchasing gold it will worth 3000 golds.
The pack give 4 items. Flam tank, pre-max soliders and weapons with 85% discount on leveling,3slots and fast leveling.
Although most people who buy stalingrad pack is for that pre-max solider and weapons and large discount in weapon upgrade(For me its about 50%. 20% will be fast upgrade and 20% to the extra slots and only 10% for the flame tank. But I will give these item each 25% of the pack value just for the sake of this argument to please your DF simps. We get to keep half of them(flame tanks and 3 slots) and lost all the rest. So I think we should at least receive 1000 golds or stuffs worth the same value for our compensation.

That discount and bonus XP was only for Stalingrad. Since there will be no more Stalingrad you cant really expect to benefit from it all areas of the game (which is essentially what would happen once merged). In the scheme of things its only a temporary bonus, once you have maxed out, its moot anyway (and that really doesn’t take long. I only just decied to do my soviets to make use of my pack before it goes. Took 2 weekends to completely max and gear up)

The good news is, you still have a month to get all you need out of the Stalingrad XP and gear.

The problem is not 4x xp buff are useless. The problem is these things are purchased by players and DF do not want to pay a proper compensation when they take it back for whatever reason.
