But this is not about tossing small arms. Only in unrealistic interference in the possibility of killing infantry. It’s like taking away the ability of planes to kill infantry on the ground. PS. Volksturm used the captured PPSH in Berlin so why should the FG 42 be unrealistic?

Unpopular opinion. I like the idea of gun squads both for anti-tank gun and anti aircraft gun. Would be nice to upgrade my AA Squad of Germans with the Gladiator helmets issued to the volksturm. Maybe a volksPioneer Squad that is only able to build and tear down sandbags and AA guns?
Anti-aircraft and anti-tank gun duties often fell to main armies or for example the luftwaffe. It was quite rare that they were manned by engineer Squadron
