well, aint that interesting
Better copy the link somewhere, just in case it accidentally gets “lost”…
Well I’ll be damned
Dont care. Was still bad community manager.
i have learnt not to jump to conclusions based on just one side of the story. smartest post in that topic is this:
This situation involves complex workplace dynamics where one of the following scenarios might be true
Manipulation and Negative Actions: One person might be using information about another person’s mental health issues, along with other negative tactics, to push them out of the company.
Misplaced Blame: One person might have irrationally fixated on another as the cause of all their work-related problems. The person being blamed might have inadvertently mentioned mental health issues while trying to explain why they are being targeted.
-Mixed Reality: The truth might lie somewhere in between these two extremes, involving elements of both scenarios.
Regardless of the actual situation, we may never know the full truth. Discussing this on Reddit is unlikely to yield an objective assessment, as responses tend to be influenced by popularity rather than an actual knowledge and evidence.
Russia seems to be quite a crazy place though, when someone working for a short time in government office 20 years ago is considered a politician and talking about politics can land you in prison.
I hope Keofox lands on his feet and in time he will find it to be a positive change in his life, I also hope that this medical information leak was a mistake and not an act of malice.
Among the sea of replies, there’s also the other guy in question.
saw it and while he disclosed that keo was seeing psychiatrist to few colleagues, real reason why keo got fired is not publicly known. it could be cause manipulations behind the scenes from that guy, or it could be cause of completely different reason, or it could be anywhere in between.
if i was keo and in normal country, i would sue for wrongful termination cause case could be made that they fired him for his mental health status and then it would be on employer to prove that he made fireable offense. but he is in russia, so who knows what he can actually do…
I got more sympathy for him than the snail.
And even if half of the story is true, shits fucked. It’s not the way to treat emplyees, independent of how much you like him or what he did in his role.
you should read stuff about blizzard…
a lot of companies, sadly. Doesn’t make it right though.
StandWithKeo
well i agree. heard/seen lots of stuff, specially after 2008 when companies “reorganized”.
This is entertaining.
A bit what we used to see on the forums 3 yrs ago.
I disagree. According to rumors, keofox was fired using some very dubious. Who knows if it happens to a “good” cm in the future. Plus that keofox was just the mouth of the the snail. No blaming him.
After Fox went silent, devs started to adjust the MM and his replies were sassy and not professional, not to mention his English skills. Fox also made very funny statements on WT Forum that go beyond “blame the bosses”.
I dont care about personal drama in terms of performance. If he had mental issues whatever, he still fully decided to become a community manager.
Also, if he is right, he should straight sue them or go for other legal steps instead of going to reddit without even sharing evidences. Because so far we only have side a vs. side b and I think it all goes back to “that is how I see the issue.” Does he think the community will care and boycott Gajin or what?
Is Putin going to send him to the front in Little Russia or Gulag because some randoms on a game forum said something about him saying against Putin?
No. Most people do not even know who he is and the few who do are not all fans of him, believe him and/ or care about this problem.
For those suggesting he sue - AFAIK community managers are unpaid volunteers aren’t they, and not actually “employees”? Of course local laws may differ…
CM-s are paid position AFAIK. forum moderators, alpha testers and helpers are unpaid volunteers
