Let me start by emphasizing how much I love this game and I, in no way, want to sound like a salty grumpy disgruntled player.
Playing the various campaigns was a joy and a delight, there were days for Normandy and nights for Stalingrad, and playing with friends who grew up in some of those specific regions made for an entertaining conversation.
The removal of the ability to choose campaigns was a bit of a loss to me, and to a number of my friends that I have introduced to this game.
I also became swiftly overwhelmed at having 30 or 40 squads lumped together, some low level and some very high level, now sharing gear and having to find the right squads.
I’d suggest a return to the campaign system as well as squads specific to their regions. It added some uniqueness that I think really set apart Enlisted apart and a cut above other games.
I also never post on forums, but Gaijin, you seem to legitimately listen and care about your player base, so I wanted to throw my two cents into the conversation.
With kind regards
A casual player who loves your game dearly.
Since you’re newer here I’ll catch you up. The campaigns were a cool concept but it was unsustainable for the player base. The entire player population was split between 6 campaigns and 12 factions which meant most games were often populated almost exclusively by bots on one side. This isn’t sustainable for the game so they merged everything.
Since the merge player retention is up so they’re not likely to change that. They’re also able to add more maps now since they don’t have to create full campaigns to do so. Additionally the player base would have been further split by the recent addition of the Battle of the Bulge into 14 factions.
Like I said though, and I’m not arguing the point of it being better or worse, I think it could be better in the future maybe. The problem is the fact they pushed campaigns as being a selling point for the game, it was a highly advertised feature that there would be unique campaigns and now there gone.
Like I said, not advocating for or against, it’s just the truth of the situation. The decision will negatively impact the game likely for the rest of the duration the servers are sustained. Especially with things like the British being removed.
I think the merge is fine if it helps maintain the game, but they have to come up with something so that I can choose maps.
Since the merge I have not been able to play Tunisia.
One real big problem, the population is forward heavy Germany and as the US are going to be the tunisian front you’re going to get thrown into Japan and Normandy.
The major problem that needs addressed is very apparent and that’s how to get the most of the population enough incentive to switch from Germany to other factions. Even progression is a drag for US now.
Maybe a vote system? Like it the matchmaking would do its thing, then present 2 options of random maps/gametypes for everyone to vote from before the match starts.
The British and Italians WILL return. That’s been confirmed, they just didn’t have enough exclusive items for them since they only existed in one campaign.
I knew this merge would happen after they added the Berlin Beta. And it’s not that players necessarily didn’t like campaigns but if you weren’t a god tier sweat in some of the campaigns you couldn’t play on a minority players team. Pre-Merge Japan wept in silence because they were getting rolled unless you got some real players on.
I think the best thing for the merge will be adjusting the weapons to apply better and rewarding “Join Any Team.” Also punishing disconnects with a 10-15m join penalty like War Thunder.
Yeah, I really loved the game too. Played everyday, borderline addict. Hate it now though. All that squad crap, complicated research, inability to pick campaign(ie style). All for what ?
It’s no fun anymore. Gonna uninstall & go elsewhere.
