The Size, Scope, and Scale of the game is the Problem

I think the true crux of various issues this game has is simple, it’s size. Most objectives are small cramped buildings or just have very little space. It’s extremely easy for the enemy to just zerg into one building, or for tanks to spam one building, or for planes to rain down on one building, or for flamethrowers to clear one building, or for Assaulters to clear one building, then BOOM the match is over in seconds

Not to mention various other features in this game that are not realizing their full potential. Sometimes there’s not really a point for rally points when the distances you have to cross are so short. Or vehicle variety, the meta leads towards the heavy tanks that can “tank” everything because you are only ever facing one direction whether attacking or defending.

But if the battles and objectives are much larger, then it’s not so easy. Battles would be more of a struggle. Battles and gameplay would be more dynamic and fluid. A Giant Battle would solve many gameplay issues as well as many current gameplay features realizing their fullest potential

Both teams only have one HQ spawn, making distance important. Rally points would be more strategic and important. APCs would be even more useful as mobile rallies.

Objectives are much larger. Instead of a single building, you may be fighting over a whole sector. Fights for objectives would be a struggle for both sides. With a fully open map combat would be more fluid as you would have opportunities to flank from different points. Not to mention that in larger objectives there would be various locations being fought for all within one objective. The strongest weapon types wouldn’t be able to easily zerg the objective because objectives themselves would be much larger. Sure your SMG can clear a single building, but that building is just one little piece of the whole sector you’re fighting over.

Vehicle combat would be more fluid and dynamic. Effectively there would be no Gray Zone. With a fully open map with multiple objectives your vehicles have to hoof it to the battles. Flanking would actually be viable because vehicles could charge into the objective from any area. Vehicle classes would be able to fulfill their intended roles. With an open map and large objectives a light tank would shine speeding around and flanking infantry within the objective sector

Mines and Engineer constructs would be more useful. Hedgehogs, barbed wire, MG nests, etc would be more vital as with a larger map it would be strategic to block specific routes. With the battle being open with enemy movements everywhere mines could be placed anywhere.

Paratroopers would be more strategic and could better play their historical role. Parachuting behind enemy positions, building rallies deep into enemy territory, ambushing and stalling the enemy……instead of spawning just a few feet more on the frontline than spawning on the ground

A pipe dream of a Giant Battle would be larger teams. I envision 50 vs 50 squads, with at most 30 infantry, 10 tanks, and 10 planes. Having more players would increase the variety of your team’s arsenal. In the game’s current mode classes like Medics and Mortars are niche but with many players your teams would at least have every role covered

More vehicles would add more variety and various roles would be covered unlike the base game. Heavy tanks, medium tanks, light tanks, armored cars, tank destroyers, SPAA, etc would all be able to fulfill their roles.

Sometimes plane gameplay can be a little boring when you want to dogfight but the enemy team isn’t fielding any because there are only 10 players and no one may want to play as a plane. Well with more players chances are there will be many players who want to play planes. Every base would be covered. There would also be enough players who would man AT and AA guns increasing that dynamic in gameplay

The maps as is in game are already large and would probably work perfectly fine in a Giant Battle with some tweaking. But new giant maps certainly could be made, even perhaps remaking current maps giant

Conquest would work well in this kind of mode, but Invasion and other modes theoretically could be overhauled to work in a giant mode as well. Even a mode like Conquest Assault like from the Battlefield series would work

I’m down for some large scale maps and game modes. It’d give American tanks a chance to use their “superior” mobility for one. Not to mention LONGER MATCHES

yea i want to be a sneaky one driving Sherman to attack Tiger from the rear

I would really like to see a big action mod made by developers, with better experience and everything. I too often think that larger-scale battles would solve many of the problems this game has. We wouldn’t need BR, as you say, each weapon would have its role, each vehicle would have its role and most importantly, each role would be filled. Very often I have games in which no one flies planes or drives tanks, and as a result the entire team suffers greatly. So if this would solve the issues, great, despite everything though, I think that the current game model would still be equally important and needs to be developed, but such a truly sandbox game mode would be excellent.

it is worth mentioning that recently devs gave a sneak peak that soon there will be an event without a gray zone, so… maybe they’re planning something like that.

It’s certainly a process. Like making a concoction it takes time and trial and error to make something right.

The only restrictions I’m interested in are historical period, but that’s an issue for another day

The 4 types of American paratrooper regiments and P47 will help you shorten your time by about 10 minutes

2042 and previous large-scale war games have already well explained why this type of game cannot last long.
Let’s not talk about the Internet first
Computer performance will screen out more people

By the way
No Axis power wants to see 5 P47s flying in the sky
Nor does any capitalist or communist want to see 10 King Tiger artillery positions
And a flying group of 5 Type 188 bombers or 5 Type 110G2 bombers (sounds pretty awesome)

You say that like I use paratroopers

I especially like to enter the waiting screen before changing the base.
Then when the new stronghold is opened, parachute to a nearby location and start building a rebirth point, while sending AI to occupy the stronghold.
After establishing the respawn point, start thinking about changing teams or ambushing the enemy.

The best part is that this process usually only takes about 40 seconds
While the enemies on the front line are still under siege, a big hole has been opened in their butts.
And they’re completely unaware

Dang way to take the fun out of everything

Then you can try to stand on the moral high ground and condemn these immoral players.
Just like those monkeys who died in tanks in the black zone

2042 64 vs 64 failed because the maps for the mode were bad and 2042 itself was already bad before even talking about the 64 vs 64 mode.
If your game is shit you dont have the player numbers flr 64 vs 64 in the first place.

Why not?
Because then you could better flank and avoid tanks because you would have bigger maps and same applies to planes because the maps are not one single choke point and they would probably need more time to rearm.

Yes his arguments are invalid, we already had tommys big action mod which proved game to be working fantastic this way, it can get only better if devs would put their hands on it.

Yes. Bigger map, bigger objectives, more players.
But I guess devs want the game to be fast and run on potatoes so there is a conflict of interests let’s say.

well i try tommy mod once and my potato pc run just fine so it definitely not a problem

Euthy said in future there would an event without grey zone for testing

that sound nice tbh i will be definitely looking forward to it

Baby steps

I lean towards probability wins in the end. Simply put, what are the chances that you’d end up with 10 of X all at the same time. Probably low. In the game now all 10 players are fighting for the 2 vehicle slots, well scale that up and now you have 50 players fighting for 10 slots. Even now there is generally good variety in that the teams have a good vehicle distribution. Few have heavy tanks, most have light or medium tanks, and a few have a tank destroyer or some other niche vehicle.

Also, with 50 players chances are there are a decent amount that are able to deal with you. Your team will likely have a decent amount of AT squads, plus mines would be more common around a larger battlefield, your team’s arsenal of tanks and planes, and there will certainly be a few players manning AT and AA guns

I find it would be a self regulating system
