I think everyone knows this German low BR meta fighter from the old Stalingrad full access, but
As the title says, I think the 250kg of the IAR-81C must be removed for two reasons.
Gameplay balance
As a BR1 fighter, it has an excellent load of 250kg+2*50kg. The 350-round 20mm mg also provides high fault tolerance in air combat. The body performance is not fast but flexible and can win most dogfights.
I think it is far superior to all German low BR counterparts in all aspects except speed, and is worth using even in BR5.
Of course, the same problem also occurs with the USSR P-40, but that is another topic.
After removing 250kg, IAR can still occupy a place in BR1 with a large number of 20mm ammo.
Historical facts
The description “the (IAR-81C’s) centreline bomb rack removed to be used as fighters” can be found in both wikipedia and WT wiki. However, the IAR-81C in WT still has a 250kg bomb rack, which is inherited into Enlisted.
If a version carrying 250kg is to be added to the game, the IAR-81A can be considered. It has a bomb rack in design but uses FN 13.2mm mg instead of 20mm cannon. Aimed to be used as an attack aircraft. (Although the order was finally changed to the fighter model so it was never produced).
I love everything about the IAR-81C
He can provide the best fire support in Germany
Being in America reminds me to always be aware of the madmen in the sky
I don’t care about that little bit of turning advantage
Not to mention he only has 350 rounds of 20MM
7.92 Not enough damage
I believe that good pilots will use technology and thinking to defeat
The payload balance of aircraft in the game is indeed very confusing.
Maybe I will discuss that issue in other topics.
Maybe they did their research and found that the IAR-81C did have a bomb rack, but based on the information they themselves provided, it didn’t.
I am just making claims based on the information I have seen, looking forward for you can tell me something diffent.
I now understand that most people only care about balance and BR rather than boring little details.
Maybe I should only mention the bomb rack issue to avoid vague topics.
It isn’t their fault if their fellow attackers aren’t nearly as good.
Besides, if you relabel them as attackers, what will you get? They will still be the first picks, dooming other attackers to even more uselessness, and at the same time the fighter slots will be open. (-Evil Re.2001 laughter-)
I mean thats fine. For the 1 vehicle slot people it makes no difference what its labelled.
Im just saying that as a collective, the general Idea is that Attackers are meant to be the better/more effective at CAS. And as the Game is designed around limiting to only 1 of these aircraft (1 fighter, 1 attacker) it sort of goes around that rule when you have Fighters that are as good or better at CAS than attackers. So in essence what you actually have is 2 Attacker aircraft in the air at the same time.
Im just a sucker for consistancy. If we are throwing out the 1 fighter 1 attacker rule limitation, then sure id go with it.
I believe attacker and fighters should be merged to only one class. Since there’s so many inconsistencies already. (Prime example is P-38 and legacy P-38 which is basically the same vehicle and with exactly the same loadout, yet one is fighter and the other is attacker).
We don’t have specialized light tank, medium tanks, heavy tanks, TD class differentiations too.
Plus all planes should get at least some bombs or rockets, since pure fighter plane with only MGs/cannons is extremely situational plus its lack of versatility makes it pretty much unusable for any f2p player.
As far as I know, the second p-47 is nowhere near strong as classic tech tree one.
The current corsair + P47 combo is much more stronger.
Anyway, using argument like this isn’t fair. If there’s a something that’s toxic when cycled, it is obvious it needs to be balanced.
I don’t think it is good solution to just limit/restrict it. It would only end up in situation, when one single player is lucky and RNG decides to give this particular vehicle slot to him (even tho like 4 other guys had pre-clicked the exactly same vehicle befor the start of the game). And so the other unlucky players will end up as living targets.
I believe there shouldn’t be any artificial limitations. And if there’s vehicle or weapon that’s overused. It needs to be nerfed, or other vehicles/weapons needs to be bring on the same level. That’s literally the whole point of BRs from my perspective.
No Im not talking about cycling. Im talking about what can be in the air at the same time. I mean if there was no class distinction. Two players could fly the same p-47 at the same time. With the current ruleset, once A player has it, the attacker slot is locked so there cant be 2.
