First i want to apologize for my english. Second i do not want to offend/accuse or flame anybody, i am merely stating my own opinion about the current situation in Enlisted.
I am making this topic because i want to share with you people, players and developers of Enlisted how i feel about the idea of filling every game with AI (bots)… I’ll start with how i learned about Enlisted, at the time my PC was barely meeting the minimum requirements to play the game. One day i had a friend at my place and we were talking about new and upcoming games. He then showed me a video of Enlisted, I was very excited and i liked what i see very much. Later on the game became open beta and i was very excited (and i don’t often get excited about a game). And so… i installed Enlisted and hoping that it would run on my Core 2 Duo E7500, 4GB DDR2 RAM and R9 280x Vapor-x (Now having I5-2500, 8GB DDR3 RAM and the R9 280x Vapor-x, not much, but pretty sufficient for me). I was really happy finding out the game runs with nearly constant 40fps on little above minimum graphics… so happy that i called my friend (which has a PC that cant run Enlisted) to come home so we can play some on my PC. We had alot of fun! Then the days have passed and i started noticing that some of the “players” have no names when i aim at them… then i noticed that (mostly during early/late hours EU time) there are like 10 “people” defending a point, all aiming at the same direction and reacting all at the same time… then it came to me, “Bots…”. Now don’t get me wrong… i respect some people’s wish to play with bots, maybe they like Squad mode where they can “revive” nearby their place of death with another soldier and take “revenge” onto the player that killed them, maybe that’s “fun” for them, its okay… maybe they don’t like playing competitively, they just want to chill and relax and shoot at stuff, its also okay (tho i can’t seem to grasp what is the fun in holding a point all alone through the whole game, making 9 people multikil’s (in Squad mode) one after another), but its okay… maybe its just me that is wrong. The thing that i don’t understand is… Why there isn’t a mode where there are no Bots? I mean No Bots At All? Now… some will say “The maps are too big” others will say “You will wait whole ethernity until you find a game”… Truth be told I would wait 5 minutes for a game, even half full game just to play with real players. Why would you ask ? Why do you hate bots so much? I’ll tell you. A bot doesen’t have INGENUITY. If you kill a player 2 or 3 times he starts thinking “Damn i can’t kill that guy THIS way, I will try something else… Flank him perhaps ?” The bot will NEVER be capable of this way of thinking. Yes a bot may be adjusted to headshot me every time on sight 100/100, but that’s still not “Player-like” right ? Playing against bots will never be the same as playing against players. It will always be “Fake”. That is why it is called AI (Artificial Intelligence). Please let there be a mode that is Bot-free! Maybe cut some of the maps to make them smaller? Maybe limit the max number of players, say 10vs10 or 5vs5 or even 3vs3? For me (and im sure for many other players) that would still be better than playing huge maps and 50vs50 or 20vs20 or whatever WITH BOTS. Seeing a great game like Enlisted sinking so low to try to mimic players by naming its bots with “real” names (atleast you guys made it clear by hiding the names when aiming at the “players” Thanks for that!) really hurts my heart… it makes me feel like the gaming is degrading, the competitivity in PC games is degrading. No i won’t quit Enlisted, as i said i very much like what Gaijin has made!
A little offtopic for a final… I grew up in time when kids kept their school food money so they could go after school in the Internet cafe and play some Counter-Strike 1.6 or Half-Life or StarCraft or AoE 2 on LAN with their friends… we all had PC’s at home, we all could play vs Bots, but we all chose the HUMAN experiance and it was FUN. I will never forget those times from my life!
P.S. Sorry for the wall of text, but i really really really felt like coming and sharing
