The need to change the default settings for rapid-fire weapons such as the FG42 and AVS-36

I’m wondering why the FG42 and AVS-36 are among the rifles that can fire continuously and why their default setting is semi-automatic.
The M2 Carbine, AVT-40, and AKT-40 have full-auto default settings.
I have to switch the controls to the AI soldier to make the FG42 or AVS-36
It takes a lot of effort to change the FG42 or AVS-36 to full auto. I’d like to see weapons that can fire continuously be set to full auto from the start.

But that’s not how they were meant to be used?

Automatic Rifles and Carbines are meant to be used semi-automatic except for emergency use of auto when suppressing or up close. The only exception in your list is the FG42, which was specifically designed as an automatic rifle capable of replacing the MG34 in Fallschirmjager service

Good question, op. For example, I would like to have BAR A2 in slow-rate as standard.

you literally have to press one button

trust me, you don’t need to have fg42 on full auto. hell i would recommend you to have it on semi to get the most out of the gun

press one button, yes. but OP mean putting AI guns to full auto, which mean switching to AI too.

for player, that’s true. but as AI have unlimited amount of ammo. full auto FG42 is beneficial in my experience :V

so, yeah. the ability to change the default setting for gun would be cool

Wait, you want to make the FG42 spam worse by having all the AI armed with them fire full auto?

Pump the brakes, stomp them, put that idea straight through the windshield.

The problem with FG42 and all semi/full auto rifles was recoil of full length cartridge. Once shorter cartridges (K - in German, 7.62 x 39 russian) were adopted for assault rifles bursts or full auto was possible.

I’m not sure how to write this, but what I’m trying to convey is that the German side doesn’t have trooper weapons that are set to full-auto from the start, while the Soviet Union and the United States are set to full-auto from the start without switching. I thought it might be a disadvantage if you spawn on one team and don’t have time to switch during a shootout.

i can tell you that m2 starting at full auto is 100% of a hinderance of the weapon because it’s recoil is spastic

the m1 carabine is superior to m2 first you aim better and second you shoot better

or you can live with it and hipfire close quarters?
It’s a beast of the weapon, but the longer distance you shoot the more you should avoid that fight.

i love my m2s, they are sick weapons, they wreck havoc up close, would say they are better than mp43 close lol

I’d argue against that. MP43 has a lower rate of fire, hits harder but that’s negligible, recoils half as hard, and doesn’t have bugged/unupdated visual recoil.

FG42 vs M2 in CQC situation about 5 or so meters both are maxed out as well
