mortars are typical of low-risk high-returns. A weapon that can kill allies on an inaccessible base without any disturbance.
In your position, shooting at the Spwn Point will lead to a loss. I strongly insist that mortar should be removed.
Says you, you have 2 assault squads, one with over powered damage reduction perks. Just because someone has something and you don’t, doesn’t mean it has to be removed. Id advise you to delete this post.
Mortar is really kinda OP one. I think dev should nerf mortar’s accuracy
Mortar was already nerfed a lot, cut out their source of additional ammo from engineers, perhaps restrict its usage from spawn and it will be just fine.
i disagree. even if i haven’t unlocked and i saw those in action against me,
mortars are worthed the grind, and a great limited powerful tool.
i still have to test the new nerf. but from what i can see, those are preatty balance.
All that mortar need is a counter tactic. The way it is now, mortars can fire long and frequently enough to thin attacking forces by a lot while having little to no resistance. There should be some way for the player to sniff out mortar position and eliminate it or the amount of mortar shells available should be reduced to a minimum.
I don’t agree with deletion of it at all. It is a good weapon but takes a lot of experimentation to learn it’s ropes. And worth all the effort you put into to get it. It’s one of the more exciting weapons you can unlock after lvl 10. The rest is kinda mehh.
Sadly didn’t get the chance to test them other than being able to spawn once & I didn’t like the aiming system, note that we asked for something to be solved that it was achieving previously (destroying matches basically). I’d rather have them removed & redesigned rather than having something that is useless or don’t function.
Again I didn’t get to test them so I cannot be sure although I’m on for an actual redesign.
I don’t agree, the mortar has already had a big nerve are use is almost complex we must use a kind of telemetry which is not precise suddenly we find ourselves fired blindly,it has even become rare to kill with
In the future, once the game is accessible to larger player base, there will be tutorials on how to set up mortars. Or tips on where to set them up and at what angle to aim them. In the long run, considering what mortar can do now, it won’t be well appreciated by beginners.
I’ve encountered a guy twice since beta began who precisely(I mean absolutely on the point) setup a mortar and shelled in continuosly in invasion. He used it in 2nd 3rd and 4th capture points. Luckily we capped 2nd before he could do any damage. But he quickly setup the 3rd and shrunk the reinforcements considerably but it was still an easy cap. And at the 4th, it drove us nuts. Went from 600 to just over 200 reinforcement. Once everyone gets hold of mortars and they can experiment with the placement of it, this will be regular occurence in games. Testers should be looking at the long term future always.
Mortar should be removed. There is no way to counter that and its very frustrating when i attacking point and all of my squad is killed before I got to the point by one shot of mortar. When i see that somebody uses mortar in conquest-defense mode i always ragequit after 2-3 point, because its disgusting when somebody spam mortar and refil ammo by engineers. I think that mortar location should be always visible on map to enemies (for planes especially) or refilling ammo by engineers should be prohibited to mortar. But i have to tell you truth, most of MMO games are popular becouse they have e-sports opportunities, simply mechanics, hard to master but mortar is not esport friendly and its very frustrating f.e. for new players becouse they can’t do nothing for mortar and its hard to unlock. So solution is simple remove mortar, we have special artillery soldier class and there is no reason for second mortar class.
After running at some matches that had mortars in them (not radiomen) I found that to a degree it was doing what it was previously doing, locking out open cap zone, the game is also bug in away (has been like that since long) that artillery strikes & mortars would kill you even if you were sheltered by 2 floor build & not even remotely close to a window.
Still, the new aiming system that shows the distance in meters at the players display will only hold stuff for a while until player make out the distance from the spawn to that said cap zone, I think some players achieved that already with the last match I played containing a mortar team he was able to accurately bombard not just the cap zone but our team path leading to the cap zone which allowed the enemy to deploy some defenses (MG-nests etc) & this issue is a lot bigger in Invasion mode.
I think their removal till they get a complete redesign specially that the main issue with such weaponry is that it could be used from spawn point making impossible to actually counter it. A lot of vital design decision must be built around mortars be for we could actually see it functioning without completely decimating match or gameplay experience.
the easiest fix is to disable mortars in their own spawn, forcing them to move out and risk getting shot
It would still need an overhaul & before/while that take place I would like to see them removed from the game, although your point has to be considered & implemented since it was one of the contributing factors of mortars doing what they did prior to the change.
honestly they are loud enough for you to notice one firing pretty much immediately, so you just need to find it by ear and shoot it.
A big problem I’ve noticed is that in invasion, the second the point starts getting captured, there’ll be nonstop indirect fire onto it.
If friendly fire was actually an issue, I wouldn’t have so much of a problem with it, but the defenders can afford to wipe out their entire team with friendly fire so long as it stops the cap, as they don’t have the spawn limit that the attackers do.
There needs to be an actual reason to care about killing friendlies.
im 100% guilty of mortar spamming as a RUSSIAN main but i mean after being on the receiving end of it alot there is nothing more satisfying then destroying german bots and players with it and i worked twice as hard to get it. But ive seen alot more dirty things being done by the german players at this point that i just take what they do and return the favor. I dont think i have ever seen you play on the russian side but i always see you on the german side Char_Aznable. And i see you alot just dive bombing most the game in the JU i mean whats more realistic you going into the middle of the air to resupply a bomber or a engineer making ammo crates for a mortarman. Dont get me wrong theres alot of stuff wrong in the game that needs to be fixed i agree but if the only reason people post how unfair it is and only play germany its probably twice as bad for russian players. It is funny though cause the day you posted this was the day i got mortars. I feel this game has a pretty small community of players that you kind of know whos who once you get into the game and what there nation preference is and how they play. Also Arty is really lack luster in this game i feel as i can just walk through it alot without dying and depending on what way the shells are fired from they may have no effect on target, mortars on the other hand take some skill when it comes to killing PLAYERS as they move unpredictably unless capturing a point.
there definitely has to be some kind of desync or something with explosives in general.
Way too many times have I been killed by my own grenade while the enemy who was standing on top of it was unfazed.
Today as well I was shot by someone who was just sitting there in the fire of the molotov I threw earlier.
I would like to see some smoke greandes to make mortar more tactical weapon
No. I fought against mortar one battle during this campaign, for me it’s the indicator that mortar is not OP. If it was OP everyone would use it.
And I love mortars, even if they are bad
The only reason it isn’t more common is because most of the player base isn’t at a high enough level to unlock it.
Judging by what I see on my team and what I’m up against, the majority of the community is at or below level 10, while mortars are level 14.
Hell, the SVT is level 16 and you can’t tell me players are just turning down a semi-automatic.
