I want to start out by saying, I love playing Enlisted, and I love the job the creators did with developing all the details that has made Enlisted a great game! Thank you Gaijin!
Anything I say in this topic isn’t about hating on anyone or accusing anyone, or anything else negative.
To the topic. I’ve been playing Enlisted for many, many months. And the game is really fun, very original, and overall a great game - one of my favorites! Though there is one particular issue I’m having in the game that makes it very difficult to keep me interested in playing Enlisted, and continuing to pay for a subscription: the grind in the game to level up each individual campaign. The grind I believe is too much, and that the amount of experience that you can gain through individual battles on a consistent basis is very low. It takes a long time to get your campaigns leveled up, your soldiers, squads, etc. And I believe it’s too long for the majority of players. I believe most players - including myself - will lose interest, and will become too burned out to stick with the game and continue to play it.
Currently, I pay for a premium account, and even with getting double the XP, the grind is still too heavy. Now, I will say on a positive note that the cost for a premium account is reasonably priced, and the fact that you can pay different amounts to lessen the cost, and give you more options on how many months of game play in premium is great. But the grind is still too heavy.
I’ve been playing for many months now, like I said earlier. And I play a couple of battles almost every night, and have worked on leveling Axis Normandy for about 2 months now. And my campaign level now is level 21 out of 32. And on weekends I play a lot more than weekdays. This comes to approximately 30 hours a week playing Enlisted. And I’ve been leveling Normandy for about 2 months. Which equates to about 240 hours of play time. And I’ve only reached level 21. This seems a bit excessive in the grind.
My personal recommendation would be to increase the amount of experienced gained on everything by twice as much for free to play players. And increase the experienced gained on premium players by twice as much too. This I think would make the game much more enjoyable, and give player much more motivation to pay for premium. While still keeping the XP rate challenging to those that like a big grind.
there is alot of people complaining about the grind , it should be changed.
imo, just imo the problem lays on the horizontal campaign levels and not a tree type of grind like warthunder…
i just want to grind assaulters, or tanks … i dont need yet another boltaction rifle i wont use or a plane with no payload at level 33.
there must be a easy way to have the business model , a free 2 play experience, and a premium one too.
but this, clearly isnt. the grind isnt bad for players like me that put alot of hours / xp per match, but for casual players its indeed a strugle.
and we need said casual players. more than ever.
on a side note, there isnt much content right now , for people like me that had 3 campaigns maxed out on 3 levels.
i already finished berlin both sides and i m almost there in normandy.
after the current x.mas vacation , i ill be done with the levels and aint much to do besides enjoying what i got.
for some could be tedious tho… 70 days give or take without extra rewarding content…
a bolt action and a plane with no payloads at level 30+ its simply wrong and isnt worth our time fighting for them.
I agree with the idea of a tree system. It would help make rewards more focused and would allow players to not waste their time working for something they dont want. I think of H&G and their system for unlocking certain weapons. While not perfect, it made your grind much more focused and you could aim towards rewards much easier.
i had 3 factions maxed with soldiers there when i stoped playing. i was tired of grinding the same badges over and over again. hng had alot of cool things, the way to obtain gear or weaponst shouldnt be an example to follow xD
Yeah, I was pretty much only trying to reference the way that tech was divided into categories (smgs, rifles, LMGs, etc). There was a lot of busted stuff in that game, and I played way too much of it too haha.
Yes, plane steal badge for example was great and the ~million hours of driving circle to obtain meta heavy badge was also pretty awesome.
But id say HNG weapon upgrade system was better excluding scopes ofc.
Could upgrade higher rof for slow rof smg’s at cost of accuracy etc / could decrease high rof guns rof and gain accuracy.
The grind is fine in my opinion (average player, no premium account)
A interesting point was brought up during a Gaijin employee during a QnA for their other game War Thunder. They said that in their eyes, when somebody had grinded out a full tech tree, they had completed the games. So translate that to Enlisted, and completing Axis Normandy means you completed the game, so 300 hours to complete the game is not unreasonable in my opinion.
A lot of people? Seems like 1 or 2 a week on here.
Changed? No, not in the slightest
That is the point of a horizontal campaign and not letting you spawn in the same squad repeatedly, you’re not supposed to just play tanks and assaulters, you’re supposed to play all squads. Personally I like this, I don’t want “assaulter mains” or “tank mains” in Enlisted.
Segregating the player base based on how much they pay is never a good idea and will kill this game faster than any amount of grind ever could.
I’m a casual player, I play 3-5 hours every 2-3 days. It’s not a struggle to level up. (And no I don’t have premium and I’m an average player).
Agreed, and those casual players don’t typically play much money, hence why splitting the game based on money paid is stupid.
Interesting that you brought up War Thunder earlier, one of the main devs for War Thunder mentioned something in a recent QnA that pertains to this comment. He said that in Gaijin’s mind, a complete tech tree in War Thunder is a completed game. I strongly think Darkflow is operating Enlisted under the same principle, so you’ve (in their eyes) have completed the game 3 times.
As I’ve said to other people in your position, you should’ve slowed down, focused less on grinding everything and instead focused on upgrading all your squads along the way and enjoying each weapon and squad’s playstyle. Instead people grind with premium time (and sometimes squads) using only a few squads to get the shiny gun or tank at the higher levels and then complain the game is empty.
There is no solution to this, they’re not going to trickle feed new levels every month, what are you going to do when Darkflow cuts campaigns off at Level 40 or abouts and stops adding levels.
Considering theres 1-2 actual new topics / week besides the usual QQ topics its quite much.
Well I wouldnt want planes, tanks and least BA players in anyform. Id prefer the constant action at cap points.
Which clearly aint want developers intended but rather let everyone do what ever they want.
Cant really see this game surviving with mere skin trade such as csgo has. Unfortunately the premium / paying customers has to get something extra that F2P players dont get.
Being capable to tie your shoelaces already sets you top pro 0.5%, the rest 99.95% does struggle to get levels.
Dont really think the current premium stuff is performing significantly better than what you get as casual player. ofc theres some exceptions.
Which is why the need for grind should be lowered so the casual players would get the end game stuff faster.
I for example havent maxed a single plane unit, regardless how easy it would have been in past with the mini nukes, I simply dont like it so I dont do it.
Well the M38 in moscow for example is kinda empty card regardless its the last possible smg unlock.
Play other games that has more intresting content.
Well as above mentioned the M38 its pretty stupid, your supposed to get better equipment as you progress in campaign not vice versa.
In my opinion, the Devs are trying to offer their own unique game, not copy PS/HLL/BFV/CoD
This game doesn’t have a skin trade. CSGO has survived because of its eSports scene
That is called premium squads, not letting them play essentially a different game.
Insulting the average player
Yes, which is a very good thing
No, causal players get the end game stuff fast enough, if there is no grind there is no reason to play
Good for you, special K
okay?
Ok, there’s nothing stopping you
You seem to be under the assumption that players at higher levels deserve more attention that players at lower levels, and that players at higher levels should constantly be fed better and better guns. I don’t think you want that level of power creep
Not really, remove every rifle from the game and add smg’s. Point was, the game allows everyone to do what they want regardless how you feel about it.
If you want 3 assaulter squads thats what you do then.
Perhaps, the grind how ever isnt exactly unique its fairly similar or worse compared to other F2P games.
Which is why the premium stuff is rather essential for survival of the game.
They still need that something extra, currently none of the premium squads is worth the pay.
Id consider that as compliment for average players.
Yes and no, from ingame perspective theres 0 reason to buy any of them.
Do they ? I mostly see the usual ones running around with BA’s some might have Mp38 and rarely people that has +20lvl stuff such as Mg34.
And then they are facing people with all that end game gear that is by far superior to anything they have.
And then theyr supposed to play like that next hundreds of hours to obtain anything comparable or just quit the game.
Constantly declining playerbase probably speaks for itself what they choose to do.
Thanks.
Yes.
Thanks, I thought I had to ask your permission.
No, we are asking to decrease the amount of grind so every average joe can obtain adequate equipment in reasonable time.
Pretty sure its exactly what the game currently is, regardless some unlocks at higher level are entirely useless and premium squads are not exactly worth it.
Are they even at level of normal squad ? Last time they had restriction of 5 players / squad making them even less usable than normal squad. Idk has that been fixed.
Bolt actions were common in WW2, even more so than semi automatics in earlier stages of the war. One of my favorite parts about Enlisted is that unlike CoD or BF, it shows players that bolt actions were widely used, especially in the desert and on the Eastern front.
Ah, trolling
Name me 5 other free to play games currently running in 2021 that are like Enlisted
It is, but not a paid version of progression
Pz IV E and Panther A certainly are
It’s not
Which is good
Depends on the campaign, Moscow and Normandy the average player is certainly past level 10, Berlin is getting there, only Tunisia would I say the majority are around level 5
Yes
You slowly get better and better weapons as you progress, you gradually trade in your bolt actions for semi automatics, and then you get full autos.
I would like to see where you get your playerbase statistics from
Depends really. So far the trooper and motorcycle one are equal to normal squads. Engineer squad are 4 instead of 6. assault/machine squad could use some change though.
Sure if the intention is to make record of fastest dying game.
Well i specifically spoke about the Moscow as I mostly play that. Even tho finding game these days takes ages.
Or just quit, which probably is the most tempting option from new players perspective.
More bots ingame than ever before, takes ages to find a game. Sure we can pretend that its because the servers are so overpopulated but im pretty sure no one buys that.
Good luck with those shoelaces then.
Which is exactly what the game currently is. Regardless how much you try to argue about it.
