The future of engineer MG's (poll)

Preference.
You’ll also notice nobody directly compared the dshk and M2 because those were antimaterial, which the MG34 can’t approach.

The M1919 is the only one you listed that even shares the role. The MG34 is too unwieldy to begin to compare to the BAR or DP.

I’ll just play with my german MGs :stuck_out_tongue:

Then why are you still whining about it

It just proves my point
Allies had no general purpose MG’s (@VoyoMayPL knows a lot about this)

Even if I love allied weapons more than axis ones, I have to say Germans knew how to make MG’s

To balance this issue, we can have shields for our Maxims.

I see no problems in that decision

Then it’s a good time to point out the MG34 isn’t an LMG.

As for the maxim, the shield would kill the field of view.

Also saying that the 1919 isn’t general purpose? Then what the fuck do you think it is? That’s its only role.

In my opinion all their infantry weapons were quite good but as you’ve rote MG were excellent.

I would say that the shield will be more of an obstacle than sth useful but, as many people have already wrote, it’s too iconic to remove.

So it’s a fallacy to compare it to LMGs like the BAR and Bren.

No, that was the M2.

No if MG34 is used in LMG role.

M1919 also.

No, it’s a GPMG

There is a huge hole in the shield so it will take only about 50% of view when aiming, you’ll still have more view space then snipers and tanks

I wouldn’t go into details but weapon experts say MP-40 doesn’t feel as powerful as Thompson and PPSh
Also to mention the huge lack of semi-automatic weapons

Germans had a lot of good weapons but most of them were very expensive to produce so they saw limited use in combat

This is just one of the reasons why Germany lost

So don’t compare it to LMGs and HMGs.

That’s still not acceptable.

Not infantry weapons, thats the trick. For 2 tommys you could buy 1 MG42 for example.

Thompsons were overpriced like all gen-1 SMGs, that’s why it was replaced.

you guys are popping off. For once, I won’t read the entire convo xD

O my… 119 XD

General recap: team wehraboo declares that the MG34 was god’s gift to man and must be unopposed in-game because nobody had ever thought of making a man-portable or belt-fed machine gun before the 1930s.

I’m saying the 1919 checked the same boxes that the MG34 does 15 years in advance, so the MG34 isn’t special.

The idea of having a .50cal (or M1919) for the USA, with low RoF, no cover, high damage, maxim with gun shield, and MG-34 sounds about normal to me.

It’s not like the MG-34 would be godlike

But it didn’t. Never had a bipod or stock until 44-45 there for it couldn’t be used by the infantry like the MG34/42 could and still weighed 31+ pounds

I don’t think the 1919 would have trouble competing with the MG34 in the context of the game.
The M2 would be OP, and I feel like keeping a gun shield on the maxim would be more of a hindrance. I don’t see it as iconic either.

Then what gun would we give to the ruskis?
Also do note that the 1919 is almost twice as heavy as the MG34
