Yes?
Many of modern MGs have technological features that originate from MG34 or MG42.
“No. It’s on tripod, sway is only if you hold it in hand. This topic is abbout mounted guns so there is no sway.” that was what you had stated about machine guns. Mounted or not all guns behave differently, they all have recoil and muzzle climb. It should be a balancing factor to counter the higher ROF
Every MG that isn’t a maxim or a madsen was ahead of its time by those standards.
MG34 was completely ahead of its time and no one had anything to complete with in WW2. Best attempt was probably the American 1919A6 and that still wasn’t even close to the MG34
I think definition of sway is the problem here.
Mine is: sway is weapon going left-right up and down withouth shooting due to arms of shooter geting tired.
What’s your understanding of sway?
No not at all. The MG34 was light weight, belt fed and flexible. Anything magazine fed as a LMG was obsolete when the MG34/42 arrived
As you fire the machine gun will “walk” or sway. it will slightly move off target left right up down. The more violent the recoil the more you will notice shots landing off target.
That’s not ahead of its time, WWI era MGs achieved that -removed-.
That’s the recoil and gun geting decalibrated.
It saw very limited use in LMG role.
By that logic the MG34 copied the M1919
Germany was halfway-modernized in the 30s. It was only advanced when you compare it to Russia.
No the 1919A6 came after the MG34…Jesus. The 1919A6 was when they finally added a shoulder stock, prior it was ONLY tripod mounted
Yes and no.
False equivalency.
Says the one who shifts the goal posts every time you’re presented with an argument you can’t win.
A weapon doesn’t have to be obsolete to be upgraded. Case in point the M1919 not being obsolete when it got a stock.
Go back to jerking over nonfunctional wunderwaffe
So by the same logic, all Sherman upgrades happened to compete with Japanese tanks because unupgraded shermans had fought Japanese tanks before.
- it was air cooled withought changable barrel
- it was ment as HMG (so for any other role it had to be moded)
- as LMG was basically self-made by troops and abandoned
- before shooting needs to be loaded, MG34 was caried loaded
- tripods were much different, German was better but more costly
I could probably find more but I’m tired.
Anyone with an iq above 30 can see what I’m arguing, I’m not justifying myself to you.
