The BR5 environment in Enlisted is dominated by overpowered aircraft like the P-47, Corsair, Meteor, F-80A, Ju 188, and Tu-2S, which relentlessly bombard the ground with heavy bombs at a staggering rate, making gameplay miserable for ground forces. Deploying anti-air tanks like the Wirbelwind is essential, as its rapid-fire 20mm cannons can effectively shoot down or deter these planes, preventing their devastating strikes. This would balance air-ground dynamics, curb exploitative bomb-spamming tactics, and create a fairer, more enjoyable experience for players.
Yes, we need it now!
Agreed but if SPAA continues to take up the regular tank slot then still most people will never use them. It needs a separate slot
I wonder what would be better - Ostwind or Wirbelwind? Considering one has a quad flak, but Ostwind has a bigger caliber AA gun…
They could create a support vehicle slot, for light armored scout cars in low BRs, and light tanks in high BRs, but also AA vehicles.
They could put quite some vehicles into that support vehicle class - like Mortar half tracks, SDKFZ 221 or 222, even Puma could move into higher BRs with those light armored scouts getting the unique ability to capture objectives.
It would be great to see expansions and additions of AA vehicles
I bet you won’t be saying that when they add the Flak Panther or multitudes of 88s mounted on some truck bed
People only deride AA because at the moment we only have peashooters.
I don’t think we need a separate support slot because at the end of the day no matter what vehicle you are your job is just going to be shoot at infantry. I play different vehicle types for variety but ultimately they all do the same thing more or less.
There are only 2 vehicle slots so I don’t think there’s any point. Transport and Rider are more infantry than vehicle. If in the far future we have bigger maps, teams, and vehicles then maybe.
2 slots, spawn as whatever you feel like
Sure. But let’s just get rid of the overheating mechanic then at that point.
Also, let’s consider that one more vehicle slot means less troops on the point. So yeah
Since tanks are easily spotted from the air, you’d probably have a higher success rate at downing aircraft just using emplacements.
It is an open top tank on a PV IV chassis so it would have very poor survivability against high BR bombs and rockets. Plus with the low damage AA cannons currently inflict on infantry, it may not be much help to the team in a ground support role. In fact it may be a nuisance as now an AA player will deny the team a good tank. Not to mention the absurd cannon overheat this thing would certainly inherit.
So unless the overheat and damage to infantry is tweaked, as well as a creation of a dedicated AA vehicle slot, I doubt this beast would really “balance” anything out. And even if these changes were to happen, it would still be a squishy, easy target of aerial spot spam.
But even so, it would still be cool to see in Enlisted.
Already exists and is a tank slot and also kinda useless due to how clunky to use it is.
88mm AA will be terrible unless we get proxy fuzes.
Historicly 88mm AA guns worked by saturating the sky with fire, from countless batteries overlapping each othere, to create a thick screen of explosions a bomber would need to pass through.
So unless they give you 4 flak trucks in a single squad you wont hit shit.
I believe to have heard that a third of the german ammo production was just dedicated to air defences like the numerous flak emplacements. So you can imagine how many shells were expanded for unlimately little effect as bomber in the end still got through.
I like the idea, but I don’t see it as a good fit right now. With only ten players, we can’t put them all on tanks. I’d like to see this added when the player count increases to 15 and it has its own unique slot. Until then, they should give everyone better AAs.
In general yes but i think we need bigger matches…
The Wirbel will be more powerful, but the Ostwind will fit better with the other nations, The Ostwind could sit at a nice BR3 too Id argue too.
In my view, what we need is accompanying air defense—something that can provide continuous cover for advancing troops.
At the same time, in BR5, it can effectively deal with infantry. However, its impact on infantry won’t be overly strong, as it’s a tank—a large target that’s easily destroyed.
someone needs to make a detailed post of the inside of the AA with lots of pictures so they can start thinking about completing it
Cant they just copy the internals from WT?
All the vision ports could just be copied from any of the panzer 4 hulls.
So i doubt its that what keeps the devs from creating it.
It is eighter managment not wanting it or it just beeing buried as low priority addition since god knows how long.
its probably low priority since they said AA tools were good enough to defeat jets but maybe if people keep reminding them by making posts about it they’ll decide to add it/ finish it
For history and variety more AA vehicles should be added.
Heck more of all vehicle types should and must be added!
