The best Defenders! (Updated 22.11)

maybe i’m cynical.

but i’m starting to realize that…

literally no one cares about mods.
beside us making them and a very tiny portion of the playerbase playing them.
no wonder why they have given up on mods digest in ages.

i mean, the averange joe can’t build a rally point in the base game. or stay inside the objective for more than two seconds.
so you can’t really expect them being able to open a side tab and join or view or even decide a mod from the portal.

( even though, 13 posts of " test " of the same sh*t because most of the people who uses the mod portal haven’t figured out the frikkin box/draft function to hide and keep it private while not spamming is surely playing it’s part. and i can’t be blind of which one of the reason why people don’t play mods ( those who could ) it’s because lack of xp. you know, rewards for that matter. which were also promised but never delivered. the reoccurent theme of features for the editor so to speak )

devs feels like completely swept under the rug and act as those never were a thing to begin with.
so we have to resort to the spamming and bring it up miltiple times just to get a cheap " see? we do care about you ". of things that sometimes that we even asked never even shows up.

" now here, keep some new treats "
that we have to figure out how those works ( for example, most of the people have to relay on you, or having knowledge of datamine to find and pull the various blks, scenes and logic ) because i suppose it’s too much of an effort and inconvenience to post them on a thread. for… how many people?
image

yeah right.
sorry,
it really is too much of an effort and too much of a waste time.

but we do have time for this though.
where apparently we virtually praise some speed runners for no absolute reason opposed as people who actually spends days if not weeks or month to make mods for this game to provide some different and new or similar experiences compared to the base game for those extensive " down periods " between updates while giving something to do to veterans and what not.

while doing so in the most ostic enivorement where half of the stuff that you want to do, have to waste hours & days just to find it because it’s not as intuitive as someone would expect or literally having to fight and make two thousanthands adaptation that netflixes memes of adaptations can only dream of achieving ( actually, they really do their best to do their wost in some things but i digress ) just to make some of our mods works. or completely gutter them because after 25k line of code the mods wont even work and starts cutting out features.

did i mentioned update?
oh boy, pray that the new update only broke something easy to fix.
because the clog it’s a half or miss most of the time.
and trying to sectionize the code of your mission is often time than not, time consuming as well.

but, this is our reality.

also:

who could have guessed that people in a team chat and had access to this gamemode in the testing would be in a leaderboard.

really worthly of praises:

maybe it’s me.
but… bragging about being fast in a pve?

congratulations people. you really have done your selves with this one.

" Erika is just mad because she didn’t arrived first "
you absolutely got it champ
here take this;
:medal_sports:

we really are doomed my few fellow modder friends.

p.s.
i’m not angry.
just… profoundly disappointed.
can’t please all i guess.

we need friendly fire system!we need to kill those bad ass player in game!

Well… if you think so. You partially right and no. All i can say that that they done few attempts before this “shiny” one

cool.

now take those individuals, and separate them.

let’s see how " fast " they can be without coordinations and just randoms.

if anything, strangers bonding together with no communication and overcoming such difficulties if anything would be “worth of praise”. outside discord… or squad team.
( which i tried to do, and had some successful rounds. but for the most part, i did teamed up a couple of times as well )

i can guaratee you such times would be different.
but… who cares.
that’s beside the point.

don’t take this the negative way.

but like,
what are we doing here.

praising who is faster with automatic weapons? against zombie ais?
people that (watching by the replay), already have the fully BP unlocked?

is that how we determine competition?

for again, a pve?

am i crazy? does none of you see what’ i’m trying to point at?
maybe i am, and i’m nitpicking or seeing things more than they should.

shouldn’t we be more instead focused on… how many players actually played this gamemode and does?

to then dive further and have a dicussion whether enlisted should have pves?

like, both zombie and non related pves as a fully feldge gamemode for people to play?
with perhaps reduced xps ( not to custom games level )

and dive further?

In first similar event players loved leaderboard and devs decided to do it again.
Also some others projects with PVE mechanics do such things.

Already was answered in Q&A.

interesting.

i do not want to waste your time, because i apreciate you taking your time and answering my curiosity.

but from what i can recall, people didn’t liked the scoreboard on the first zombie event.
because again, it’s a pve. now, granted, compared to the first one, this zombie event is different. and actually has the bp element to it.

the first one, was more " skill " based.
but… then again, not to “trash” on the tech, but zombies were kinda dummy when it came to trenches. so you just essentially exploited their limitation to gain seconds of live by driving the hordes in opposite directions.

there wasn’t much of substance to brag about.
and we found out that there were cheaters on it.
where there were 6 to 8 players in the gamemode that was supposed to be for 4…

unless, of course there’s more than i’m missing.

because i find it hard to believe that people take joy in leaderboards in pves.
usually, those are the pvpers.

and as i play both, i can’t figure out a clear answer.
but for me, i don’t play willingly pves to brag. but to have fun.

which fun is subjective. no doubt.
but.

you’re telling me that we are here watching people speedrun this gamemode ( which i love, don’t get me wrong ) and… just leave it at that?

well, i can’t deny that… it doesn’t help my case as i do support and believe in pves.

but i’d recon there is much, much more interest for pves than leaderboards for one time " thing " / events.

correct?

again, numbers could show a clear night and day difference.

i can’t, because my own pves don’t work due to hinderances and technical limitations.
( such as servers not loading my custom maps. which it’s what i always loved doing. unique things using unique cosmetics against challenging and entertaining AIs. or even some PVEVP where players have to fight AIs and are in two different sections. guess i can’t show much because again, the poor state of custom games and the modder scene is really that bad. so guess you’ll have to trust my word for it )

but again, with official support, there could be more to it.

dedicated gamemodes, more influx of players who for example, would only seek PVE ( such as helldivers, war hammer and other title proved ), increase of sales because, ( ideally ) due to the experience being limited, people would buy premium to get more out of it, still buy premium units and add more units to their ranks, and on and on.

it’s not sci-fi sciense. i’d think.

because
and just a:

especially when, we do have more than two games in one, ( mods… despite it’s sad and desolated state )

makes me thing it’s not inherently about " being difficult " or outright impossible.

hell, this event despite few minor oversight, it’s actually going pretty good.
it’s stable. ( outside the servers sometimes going… nuts )

and as a test ( if it was a test ) it’s mostly successful.

why not go further.
why not pursue.

but… whatever.

I totally agree with the way game mods are now in.
Ever since I have joined this community (since April), I have been learning and getting more people involved in this modding community. But what did the devs do, they are no longer issuing the modder portrait as well. We had mod digest here and there right before I joined. In fact, I believe it stopped right after Titan Rise ended.

And I want to ask the devs, why? Its all your hard work to create a mode that is so modifiable. And was it all your work to destroy it in less than a year? I mean the new stuff are great, but I can tell you that if you cannot make backwards compatibilities work, the modding community will soon be dead and you can finally delete the mod editor for good

And I lot of my friends quitted this game because of its consistent increase in pay-to-win content (though I can not agree totally, I am still able to breath without any purchases so I say its way more balanced than some FPS game with 3 words that start with letter C). I was convincing myself that the project needs funding, and that the guerillas were made researchable was a sign of the decision makers waking up.
Then I am slapped in the face when I saw the f-ing battlepass in Zombies. Seriously? It does not give me any gold back, and it last only for a whole month. Its just changing the way I knew about the idea of zombies, which was to sit back and relax, rather than grinding, grinding, and grinding (and maybe sweating for a leaderboard which I dont really care about when BP is present). AND EVEN MORE P2W CONTENT WITH THE BP. NICE JOB. Hope you make lots of money.

What are the significant of modders now, you may ask? I wasn’t there when the mod editor was first released, but I can tell you that all I feel right now, is that it is a place for players who are tired of grinding and P2W spam to gather and relax. It is a way to make our ideas bloom and share gamemodes in our dreams to others. For the devs, the mod contents are actually owned by Gaijin and DF, as stated in the EULA. You are basically free to take ideas from us and improve your game.
So fueling the mod editor with new stuff and functions wont divert your player base (and make you lose money), but in fact it allows us modder to hold your player base longer for you to release major updates, (and purchasable content for revenue ofc).
Players are also able to test out premium content such as tanks and guns in mods (which is what I am doing from day 1 in my zombies mod - Gold order/Event/Premium weapon test fire with zombies)
So it is definitely a win-win, why ruin it with such updates that halt the new-born “business” that can help you EARN more FUNDING through indirect means?

EDIT: And it seems like i wasted an hour writing this post, only for people to treat it as garbage and ignore it. Not many people can understand the beauty of mods, thats what this reflected

One common bug that still exists:

If you pick up another gun of what you already have in your inventory, you get a nice extra mag bonus … but once you depleted all the rounds, you can’t refill/reload properly.

In this case, I picked up another MP40, and got some extra magazine, more than the typical 32/288.
But once I depleted all rounds, I couldn’t refill/reload properly. I was stuck in this mode (see picture).
Sometimes it works when I drop the gun and pick it up again. But not all the time.

To be honest, I always found it being super weird that a free to play shooter even has a dedicated modding community to begin with.

Don’t get me wrong, I have mad respect for modders,

Counterstrike used to be a mod for Half Life,
Dota and thus League of Legends and all the many moba games came from Warcraft, the entire Battle Royal genre came from a Arma mod, not to mention that DayZ aswell created a boom for survival games back in the days…

Modders are immensely influential to game design and without them the gameming world would have much less soul today.
