The Artillery Problem [Video]

artillery was used even in street-to-street fighting (i.e even in Berlin, Manilla, Stalingrad, etc.) and, as I pointed, with a source, it was the main factor of infantry casualties in world war 2, being responsible for 65% of them in the US army (figures likely being even higher in other armies).

Artillery was used as a main weapon of the armed forces. You can quote several infantry personnel & combat veterans saying things like "small arms are only there in order to keep the enemies pinned down until the artillery hits (‘the big guns’).

And you have to consider that some in-game maps are open, such as D-Day and most of the Moscow Campaign, and not CQC.

I think it’s fine to get rid of the red dot as long as the radio operator has to maintain line of sight to the target until the full barrage is fired. That seems like a fair balance, and would be more realistic since as I mentioned artillery needed a spotter for the kind of accuracy seen in the game

I don’t understand the red dot. The artillery is meant to kill, not to kindly tell the enemy to hide

They’d need to reduce the time-to-drop significantly then, the bots are not going to just let a guy who can be shot sit there and stare at them while they cap a point for 25 seconds til it drops. Basically remove the big red dot, change nothing else, and it goes from useless to sometimes useful but still only 1/5th as powerful as it was before the nerf.

As is everyone knows if they try to cap an open air objective there is like a 75% chance someone is gonna drop arty on it during the cap, but with the delay I more often than not see a point start being capped, arty instantly put on it, the drain down of blue and then refill of red (of the enemy capping) fully complete before even the ranging shots start to fall. It’s just largely useless right now, only reason i’m even training the german radioman squad is so i can level my gewer, once i get those perks, the squad is abandoned as completely useless.
