I make an example like this.
The player can choose the style to order squad digs something
just like ppl buiid with hammer but you need give them shovel or the order will be failed.
even can change length
and what it’s like
That would be absolutely fantastic to have. Great presentation by the way.
That is an interesting way to do it!
I’m fully behind this idea!
While this would be nice in principle, in practice it would be terribly difficult to implement. Even when digging a trench myself, it is sometimes difficult to do it efficiently due to the diversity of the terrain that cannot be dug. I’m afraid it would end in a similar way to trying to set up an AT gun that is constantly glowing red, but like 10 times more.
Nevertheless the suggestion is excellent.
The solution would be simple. You show them what to dig and they just skip the part of terrain they can’t dig into.
But if it were possible to dig holes that easily. There should be a way to fill them in or build a temporary bridge over them. Otherwise, it would be an incredibly effective thing to prevent tanks from continuing forward without having any counterplay.
It wouldn’t hurt to just have the digging reticle be partitioned in 8 sections than a single piece. That way undiggable terrain will only cover a portion of the digging command mesh and what can be dug would come up green for the rest of the mesh.
