Well STG cannot be balanced since it was unique and the only assault rifle used in WW2. This is the reason that it shouldnt be available for neither an event squad nor a premium one. As a solely techtree gun is fine

You will never find anything like anything else. But I would say, disadvantages and advantages should just about equal out in the best case.
I mean MP40 and PPS are nothing alike, neither are the sovjet pizza guns the german LMGs.
I think the AVS would come closest to being a counterpart or the Federov Avtomat.
The AVS is already for the infantry, but we could replace that with the Federov, or vice versa.
Granted, they are both full power rifle cartridges, but that could be advantages/disadvantages in damage, recoil and range.
Does anybody else have any counterparts in mind?
For the americans we could have the Johnson LMG (Kinda like in H&G)
AVS has mega spastic recoil so it really wouldn’t be anywhere close to a fair matchup asymmetriccally or not
Well keeping guns historical (without artificial nerfs) is good imo. for example the Soviet SMGs were superior and it is nice to be like that in game. Same goes with the German MGs. Regarding the StG it was unique and nobody else had something similar mass produced/used. So imo it is fine for only Germany to had an assault rifle. But it shouldnt be a universal gun (available for every type of soldier).
And this is way it shouldnt be a premium or an event variant of it. Same goes for other powerful weapons. For example the premium PPD in Berlin is busted, it should never be a premium.
Regarding the Johnson LMG, it is more in par with the FG-42. The Fedorov was an old design which is a premium gun in Moscow. It wasnt mass used in WW2 so it doesnt have a place as a techtree gun especially in a late war campaign like Berlin imo
Are you sure the VG 1-5 has been nerfed or maybe they just corrected the typo?
I belive it was a miss information /typo in some user’s ui.
I have seen older Vg1.5 prints with it having 8 and 9 damage.
Gun performs exacly the same as befor.
I belive its just a ui error.

i think, put that gun (maybe with the earlier name MP43) as an assulter gun, so only a few units member can carry the gun, would be fine
Funny thing is - I just realized that we essentialy already have the STG in game.
A G43 in 7.92 Kurz with a 30 round magazine and a 3 round burst.
It’s essentially a bulkier STG with 3 round burst instead of full auto.
Sad thing is - you can only get a single one 
A 4 man squad of those would have been absolutely lovely.
