Terrible movement and aiming?

I just bought the Closed Beta package, and after my few first matches I’m f*king annoyed with the player controlls/movement.

Its just extremely clunky overall. Lol this sounds weird but I have to tighten my real body in real life to controll this character. It just isnt smooth like Call of Duty or Battlefield. Sometimes when I run he suddenly stops. If I watch out of a window and move abit towards it you can already fall out the house. I really don’t know where to start.

Aiming… I don’t know what it is but it’s hard. Maybe I use the wrong settings with my Xbox controller atached to my pc… I just can’t enjoy playing, it cost more energy to controll the character.

Well those are making things extremely smooth just to cater to the arcade playstyle.
Not saying that the movement system we got rn is fine (as it is kinda bad), but it is somewhat intended to be more realistic

He is referring to xbox controller first of all. Playing shooters on consoles is a cancer

The movement is seriously clucky for sure but I feel okay. what is not ok in my thought is that the character model is physically rendered and it impacts every object in the game. it realistic but I’m mostly annoyed by it.

Please don’t even start this childish conversation. It shouldn’t matter what you use, I think the movement is really clunky, in such a way I actually can’t enjoy the game. Doesn’t say anything about the rest, I enjoy this serious WWII setting, that’s what I’m looking for.

I hope the developers will work on this. It cost me more energy now to let this character walk straight then focus on enemy forces :joy:

Seriously? You compare an indi game in beta stage that claims to be a ‘realistic’ with triple A arcade shooter from a game studio with hundreds devs working on it for 15-20 years and claim there shouldnt be any difference? I didnt said controlls are nice and for sure devs will listen, but hey, dont even try to expect it to be same as cod or bf or keyboard, its more childish than anyone may imagine. The difference here is day and night.

Wow, calm down cowboy. My point was I can’t enjoy the game now because the controlls are really cluncky, that was the major problem I faced now. And I think the controlls/movements are the fundamentals of gameplay.

BF or COD were just an example as comparison. Besides, I have played other indi games with small teams that had better movements. And I’m not hating, just pointing my problems so far, and hoping this will improve overtime.

it is an indie game so you better deal with its terrible movement…xd what an answer

The answer is exactly same as the feedback “It just isnt smooth like Call of Duty or Battlefield”. This isnt call of duty or battlefield and isnt supposed to be.

I find playing shooters with controller as horrible experiences in every game. That doesnt really means they have to improve, it only means im not adjusted. Adjusting isnt really something bad.

he is playing via xbox maybe some bug is making problems or not

There are enough troubles, especially with objects and windows interactions, even on PC:) However pointing out single issues is not same as going into suggestions and leaving such feedback, which isnt even a suggestion, but rather a moaning.

what he told was correct but maybe not by the way he said it

For PC/keyboard+mouse player, it’s the same. This game’s control is the most clumsy among all FPS games I have played. This is nothing to do with the “realism”. I play ARMA3, it’s way more easy to control and smoother than this game.

Arma isnt really simulating human body movement, at least i can’t find any info about this in internet, correct me if im wrong. Not sure about arma 3, but arma 2 movements were not really nice, imho

Thanks for notifying, sfh0525. I agree that you can’t say it plays this way because it’s ‘realistic’. I remember that Brothers in Arms played really good, character movement and shooting was great, and that was considered a ‘realistic’ shooter at that time (2005).

Arma3 with lots of mods can get a “OK” movement & controls. Though arma3 can’t melee without mods, that’s a big down point.
But Enlisted is target to the arcade and casual FPS game. It should make movement more fluent. Now, it’s not clumsy, but buggy. Lots of bugs in movement and interactions.

Movement code is one of the most basic pieces of code for a game developer. I myself own a library with 6 or so player movement systems, ranging from quakelikes with strafe jumping etc, to physics-animation based like enlisted. If the devs can’t adjust the movement code, they either fully intend it to be this clunky, or they are apperantly worse at coding than me with <2 years of experience.

And with the speed at which they fix things, the ammount of bugs we encountered, etc, I fear it is the latter.

Its like beautiful game engines demos and benchmarks, they look shiny, beautiful, and technically advanced, but never as the game itself.

Never gonna happen but I wish Enlisted took Rising Storm 2’s movement and aiming mechanics. IDK why but that game feels so satisfying to accumulate kills in.

God I hope not. RS2 gunplay felt pretty bad. Honestly much prefer the gunplay in Enlisted. Some of the RO2 and RS2 mechanics like turning your gun to hipfire as opposed to turning your whole body would be nice.
