Sometime my friend ask me that why am I angry while I was playing. This is the reason. Whoever designed this. I wish you eat enough food for yourselves, then your whole family will not get hungry.
If I had to take a guess it would be because the engine is blocking the Jet formed by the hollow charge thus negating the pentration into the interior. Plus the engine compartment was separated by a firewall to the interior cabin , so actually, in makes sense TBH.
A hit on the side or front will one shot it because of all the ammo.
Panzer’s (and soviet tanks) engine compartment is never a good place if you want to one shoot kill them. Try ammo compartment next time.
Also, panzerfaust is set for 50 meters, so at that distance (first video) your shoots are high. You need to aim lower
You could at least set the engine on fire had you shoot better
Check the second video. Then start to guess. Also, don’t put reality into the game, this game doesn’t have that many settings. By the way, I start to record because this 4J had already blocked my 3 shots. The last two rounds did not surprise me, the server of this game is as “stable” as ever
Check the second video, same position, easily penetrate. I can recorded more to prove how easy it can be penetrated. Also, I started to record because it already blocked 3 shots. I know the next 2 shots cannot penetrate either. Because this happened all the time.
In first video, it was 45 degrees shot and you were further away, what I’m guessing is probably the shrapnel ricochet to the right due to the angle

And the game puts very decent models in play for the tanks with spalling and penetration , combined with specific areas to hit.
If that was a live game in the second one, it would have been a kill if they didn’t extinguish.
Your first shot hit left on an angle. The way heat warheads work is striking flush. Its why the panzerfaust has a flat nose. Its not a penetrating weapon the way an AP shell is.
The second hit more to the right and got into the engine properly.
Yeah, I can see that. That’s why I am angry. Panzerfaust ricochet on a 20mm armor. And did you see the place where the warhead goes after ricochet? The first shot was about 45 degree.

And the other thing I want to remind you is that the Panzerfaust ricochet. You can see that it hit the first place then jump to another place.
The second shot seems a bit weird;
The panzerfaust was flying in downward trajectory and then hit 2 giant sticks or something then ricochet down and hit it again.
I cannot find the theory on what cause of this weird xray but from what I observe it has to do with X-Ray on the second shot, the second-first shot was x ray problem from what I know but the second was the real shot that server got. It seems like the sticks (or whatever it is idk) blocked the shot despite having thinner armor.

I kinda wish " a burning vehicle" would be more of a problem than anything else I mean a rear hit should be more punishing, since thats you least armored area…
Man wasnt there a warthunder Meta where ppl drive backwards in order to protect their tank crew or something?

A burning tanks engine will quickly get destroyed, immobilizing it
Also about that driving back meta- i think it was because for some time an engine hit wouldnt set your tank on fire, meaning that if you didnt have fuel tanks in the back your engine could tank infinite shells
don’t use it too close it’s not about position it’s about distance
It makes sense for the engine compartment to stop a HEAT projectile
None here got the right answer lol. Panzerfaust has 220mm pen(confirmed by datamining), any part of PanzerIV can hold it. It’s about distance, all HEAT anti-tank weapons don’t work properly in close distance in this game, including Panzerfaust and PIAT and Grb39
Your shots penetrated and set the engine compartment on fire. The engine block blocks everything else, so no crew members get hit and no ammo explodes - everything works as it should. It doesn’t matter how often you penetrate the rear with HEAT - you’ll hit the engine.
Have a look at the x-ray.
Your subject says “what to do” and I say aim for the sides of tanks. You can struggle hitting the front where most armor is or the rear and hope to get lucky but I have scores of success 1 shotting every tank from the side including the Tiger in Berlin.
Given that this is a Gaijin game and it’s still based off of OG Warthunder code, it’s probably the hit detection. Ghost shells are still an issue sometimes and I think this is also a similar issue, something is up with the hit detection and it makes AT launchers a bit wonky and inconsistent.
