So apparently, teammates who are also tankers can just hop in each other’s vehicles if they’re down crew members.
I like this, as it can return capabilities to tanks that are missing crew. However, I’d like the ability to kick players from my tank, or retain control over who’s in what position. Or better yet, give the tanker an allow/deny option when another tanker tries to enter a tank you’re already occupying.
I found out the hard way that team mates can just hop in your tank when my stuart, which was down to 2 out of 4 crew, randomly started galivanting off across the map on some field trip. I thought I must’ve had massive packet loss or something for about a minute before I noticed I’d randomly gotten a 3rd crewmate.
The problem here is, I know what I’m doing, and I had 2 crewmates left already, 1 for driving, 1 for gunning. That’s all I needed to fight exactly the way I want. I’d already won 2 engagements with Pumas because I know how to flank them and where to shoot. And in this game, coordination between driving and gunning is paramount, because the turrets turn so slowly. The last thing I need is a, quite frankly, awful tanker (or a troll. He was so bad, I couldn’t tell which) taking control of my driving, and then driving me across the map to go face hug a puma, getting both him, myself, and my tank killed like a f%$^ing idiot. And I’m pretty sure only tanker class can even hop in and out of tanks, which means this guy probably lost and abandoned his own tank at some point.
Anyway, if you’re a tanker who had to abandon his tank, and want to help by hopping in a friendly tank… Don’t be an A$$hole about it. If they’re down to 1 crew, then fine, that makes sense. But communicate with your teammate, and follow his instructions. It’s his tank. If they have 2+ crew at least already, then get in the commanders seat, and spot targets for him. Or hop up top when safe to get on the machine gun. That will be an infinitely bigger help than stealing his driver position, and going god know’s where, before driving right up to and face hugging a puma.
