Team-wide voice chat

VC is already in the game, Im pleading for it to be team-wide instead of only those you are lobbied with. It opens the door for players to have a great social experience without having to already know the people they are playing with

I propose a CS2-like voice comm system, which does a great job at combatting toxic players. It works as follows:

  • Text chat is server-wide (enemies included) by default. Can also be toggled to team only, friends only, or off.
  • Voice chat is team-wide by default. Can also be toggled to friends only and off.
  • Radio comms (quick chats) will always be team-only, as they currently are
  • Players can mute others in the match, which blocks their text, voice, and radio comms
  • Players can report others in the match for abusive comms. Players who receive too many reports will be muted by default for everyone in future matches (they can be unmuted by others)

Would love to see something similar in Enlisted, playing without friends feels so quiet and lonely

Can’t wait to have a friendly exchange with my enemies, of course, it could also be calling each other noobs or suspecting each other of cheating.

I call it the tactical chat doctrine, which uses fun text chat to delay your opponent, interfere with their judgment, anger them with unfriendly contents and make them lose their sanity. Good tactic

what?

So players being able to talk and be heard within an area around the player instead of team wide. It doesn’t have to be the only option, but i would love the ability to

I would definitely enjoy this. Sometimes it feels that teammates dont read your chat messages. If i could screech commands to their ears they would maybe be more willing to build rallies and attack the zone

Well this is technically gonna suck for lone fighter because your dog or construction noise or your family will give away your position If you forgot to mute your mic or work as a trap.

And right now there really is no natural way to interact with others in the game. you either have to bring friends to the game, or go outside of the game (like discord) to find friends. And as someone on the autism spectrum, I really do suck at going out of my way just to make friends, and Im sure Im not the only one who doesnt want to go outside the game to be able to chat with other players.

I really do think VC could help solve this problem and make it so much easier to make connections in the game

Don’t think there is a need, most people don’t even use chat, it’s not uncommon to see battles with empty chat feed. Just compare this to something like WOWS, it’s like day and night. I think most people just want to mind their own business.

To my knowledge due to how the game is cross play, adding voice would require a moderation team by Darkflow that they may or may not have the capacity to expand to.

This can’t be a thing. It would cost a stupid amount of money to have enough employees to listen to every match live. Maybe some sort of AI moderation, but there’s no way any company is paying employees just to sit there and listen to the voice comms of a single game in real time.

Most people don’t use text chat for a couple reasons. First, it’s time-consuming to type. You have to stop playing to type, and you can’t even type while you’re dead. So you have to sit still in the battlefield while you communicate.

The second and more prevalent issue is all the console players. They really have no options other than the quick chats, which are super limited.

I think the issue is more the lack of support and lack of user-friendliness, not the lack of people wanting to communicate

its not that they listen to it all, but they need staff to respond to reports.

I still don’t think that’s true, it would still take an immense amount of time and effort ($$$) to send an audio clip for every report for an actual human to listen to.

I would love for someone from DF to chime in on this. I really don’t see a reason to not include this feature, even if it was off by default. So, so many games that are much less team-oriented still have server-wide voice chat, I dont think team-wide voice chat in this game would hurt it by any means

Agreed. It’s jarring the difference between how lively it feels in a game like HLL compared to Enlisted. And for those concerned about words and thinking giga-moderation is needed, try growing a sack and getting over it.

Reviving this. Team-wide chat should be not only an option, but the default.

I know I am not the only person who doesn’t have a squad to hop on with every time they want to play, but would still like voice chat as an option.

At the very least make it an option, I can’t possibly see the downside of only players who also enabled the same option having the ability to voice chat with each other?
